Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

We have a gorgeous wedding to share with you today, all the way from the north of Spain.

Carolina & Alberto married on the 5th July 2013 at the stunning Monasterio del Espino (Santa Gadea del Cid, Spain) just off the Parque Natural Montes Obarenes-San Zadornil. They wanted their wedding to feel more like an informal party for their family and friends rather than a traditional Spanish wedding so opted for a relaxed and casual approach. After just one month of planning, their ceremony was held in a quaint garden courtyard which was then followed by a quick dance to some 1930′s jazz surrounded by their wedding party and a parade to music through the village streets to their reception venue!

There is so much about Carolina and Alberto's wedding that I love. Carolina's dress, which was designed and made by a friend, with it's beautiful lace fringing and plunged neck and back line is simply stunning and their reception venue where they held their alfresco meal surrounded by trees is just idyllic. However, it's the photography by the very talented People Producciones that's the stand out for me. They have captured the story of Carolina and Alberto's day beautifully with photos that are unobtrusive and match the relaxed and informal approach the guys wanted. They are perfect.

We planned our wedding in just one month! Not our original plan, but due to a new job and upcoming move, a month was all we had, so we made it work. The ceremony was held in a charming, overgrown garden courtyard and a 1930′s style jazz band led the way as guests paraded through the winding village streets to the reception venue. In Spain, weddings are still largely marked by deep-seated tradition, so our day was a fun breath of fresh air and is sure to inspire so many couples there (and everywhere!) to put their own personal spin on their celebration!

It was very important to us that friends and family played a big role in the wedding day. My dress was made by a friend of mine and the bouquet and floral crown were designed by a local florist, who also happened to be a good friend of my mother.

We wanted to make something outdoors, casual, and closer to a friends and family party than to a formal wedding. We also wanted live music to be an important part of the wedding, as going to gigs and festivals is one of our biggest common interests. Also, as I am an architect I'm constantly following blogs on architecture, design, etc. So we got some ideas from them.

There was a parade with a friend of ours' marching band, from the tiny village we got married to the monastery the venue was at. It was sunset and we passed gorgeous crop fields and vineyards.

Do not stress out. We had to marry on a Friday because it was the only day available, which is crazy unusual in Spain. People were very supportive about the date and the time constraints. You may be very surprised to find out that your father makes a hell of a wedding planner!
