Getting married at a Railway Museum may seem a little random, but once you've seen Michelle and Nick's wedding - you will completely understand why they wanted to get married at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.

Their wedding is full of vintage steam train and travel inspired details and it just works so well.

The arrivals board seating plan is genius. The personalised wooden namesake train is so sweet. Metres and metres of white bunting bring that traditional British sense of occasion, and the miniature British food classic canapés look amazing.

Michelle and Nick also chose Mr Men and Little Miss books as favours for every guest - finding the perfect character to suit each guest. And I'm very pleased to tell you that yes, Michelle has found her Mr Perfect.

Michelle The Bride: I have always wanted a vintage, non-strapless dress which are surprisingly hard to find in dress shops, and also didn't want to spend a lot, so I visited the Wedding Dress Factory Outlet. I am fussy so thought I wouldn't find anything but I found THE dress straight away! I loved the back, the detailing of the antique beads and the simplicity.

One of my bridesmaids Nan's is a dress maker and fitted my dress beautifully. She was a star as she took in all the bridesmaids dresses and tailored Nick's suit too.

I borrowed the lovely veil, the hair grip was bought from an eBay shop and wore some gold shoes which I already had. I'm not usually a hair up girl but was so pleased with my hair style. The pearl necklace and matching earrings Nick gave to me the night before the wedding and they were perfect.

Nick wore a three piece suit from Debenhams and a collar bar shirt from Next, with black patent shoes. I bought him cufflink scrabble pieces with his initials on for his wedding present.

I work in Railway Engineering and the station at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is from the 1890s and we love all things old. The minute we saw it we loved it as it's so light and large and totally different. We were allowed to use all the props on the day and they had a licence for civil ceremonies.

Our invitations were in the style of old train tickets, we had given the welcome punch train related names, the seating plan was like an old train board, the table names were train related films e.g. trainspotting and the name cards were old luggage tags.

The station is huge and although it has two stationary trains on the platform, I wanted to make it pretty. I made the tissue paper pom poms and they were so simple and effective and I also made the 130m of bunting. It took me ages to make but was well worth it. I also made 'Mr & Mrs Fenton' bunting which was fiddly but I am glad I did it.

Our flowers were put together by Bev Fletcher a family friend and she was fabulous. I absolutely loved my bouquet which was a mix of roses, gyps, snowberries, freesia and eucalyptus. I love gyps and think it is so simple and pretty so my bridesmaids had this as a bouquet and in their hair. All button holes were a mix of my bouquet.

We had a civil ceremony at the centre which was a lot of fun. I walked down the aisle to Queen, Best Friend, and I think this really set the tone of the day. My bridesmaid Rebecca had written us a personal and funny poem which had been kept a secret from us and my bridesmaid Lizzie read it. We also surprised everyone with having a song to sing and chose The Monkees, I'm A Believer. It was well received and some guests really went for it! My brother and Nick's sister were our witnesses and we were allowed in the royal carriage on the platform to sign the register; real treat as the public aren't usually allowed access.

The table centres consisted of flowers in unusual brown beer bottles (my Dad supplied these), lace candle holders made form jam jars and handmade props for everyone e.g. moustaches, lips etc. The favours were Mr and Little Miss books, and each guest was given a specific book relating to them in some way. These went down really well and were a great ice breaker for tables. I put together party bags for children to keep them entertained during the meal.

We asked the centre if they would open the museum and the Royal Mail train on the day so guests could look around, but to our surprise, Nick's Mum had paid for the working Steam Train to take guests for rides before the meal. This was so much fun and kept everyone entertained and something we will never forget, as I don't think many people have a ride on a steam train at their wedding. In one of the trains there was a working cinema carriage which played a children's film all evening to keep them entertained.

In the evening we had a fantastic DJ who was a friend from school and he played all requests as we had taken some from guests beforehand and the dance floor was packed the whole night, particularly when he played Chas and Dave and the theme song from Only Fools and Horses - requests from Nick to my family. There was even a dance off! The whole thing was so much fun. Our first dance was to Elbow, One Day and a great memory was me being swung round the dance floor by Nick!

Nick's chef friends did all the catering for the day and we have to say, it was some of the best food we have ever had. We wanted a British theme for the food so for the canapés we had mini cornish pasties, pork pies, mini yorkshire puddings with roast beef & horseradish and cheese & piccalilli crostini. We had a roasted butternut squash and smoked applewood cheddar tart for starter and bangers and mash for main. The sausages were bought from our local sausage shop which is famous in our area for being so tasty.

For dessert we served a chocolate M&S wedding cake which my bridesmaid Laura decorated and painted the peg people on top. Nick made limoncello and this was served after the meal and everyone loved it. In the evening we served pulled pork and falafel baps with a huge selection of cheese and crackers. Everyone was well and truly stuffed.

Nick's Uncle has an Armstrong Siddeley and offered to drive me to the wedding and take us back. It was such a treat to be going in such a special car. Nick was taken to the venue in an Aston Martin by a family friend so we both travelled in style!

Our photographer was the lovely Esme Ducker. Esme really put us at ease and was so friendly and wonderful on the day. We are so thrilled with the photos and they really compliment the style of the wedding. So many people have commented about how amazing the photos are so we are so pleased we chose her.

Rachel Vine of Veiled Productions is a family friend and she did such a great job. The highlights video has made everyone cry (in a good way) as it is so beautiful. We are so glad we had a video as you get to see the bits that you missed on the day particularly seeing the video of each other getting ready in the morning.

Look on auction sites for everything. We bought so much from there and it was such good value. Don't stress too much, everyone will have fun and enjoy themselves and if things don't go to plan, it doesn't matter as nobody realises!
