COUPLE A - Katie & Mark "Do you have any other British friends that need a green card?" my friend quipped to our mutual, recently married, British friend. "Hmmm...David!" He responds to her. There is no way I'm getting left out of the fun, "And for me?" I chime in. "Well...Mark, but he lives in Australia." My eyes light up and the rest, as they say, is history. Mark and I were introduced on a whim in the most fantastically absurd message. At the time I was living in Virginia and was at my "going-away party", as I was moving to San Diego the next week. Mark was living in Australia but was on a six month holiday, traveling throughout Europe and playing cricket in the UK. It was a completely random and chance introduction but as soon we knew each other, we knew that we had found "the one" in each other. After an international romance that involved a few transatlantic flights, many late night and early morning Skype dates (we despise time zones), and endless Whatsapp messages, Mark decided it was time to ask for my hand. I flew to Australia and he proposed on the shores of the Indian Ocean in the secluded wine region of Margaret River, Western Australia. The proposal was as perfect, spontaneous, and intimate as our relationship had been and I couldn't get "Of course!" out soon enough. From the moment we met, Mark knew that I was committed to taking photos. Photos of us, photos of places we had visited, of fascinating architecture, unique food...everything. After a few days together in London I apologized for my constant photo-taking and he said, "No, don't ever stop. I love it." We both realize the need to live in and for each moment, but also truly value the memories we have captured through photographs. More than any other, we want the day of our wedding to be captured and held timelessly through the use of still film. We treasure the visual memories we have already created and can't wait to have the same for our wedding. I adore the romance and love that can be conveyed in a single image; a lingering smile, a light touch, the graceful bend of a flower or the flow of a ribbon. I can't think of any other photographer that can capture that artistry more so than Laura Gordon. Her images are full of beauty and love and it would be both an honour and a dream to have her photograph Mark & I on the day we commit our lives to each other." COUPLE B - Jenny & James "James and I met when we were 19 backpacking around South East Asia. We first met in a hot and sticky dive bar in Cambodia and spent the night drinking buckets of Sangsom rum and red bull and playing "Ring of fire". The next day we went our separate ways not expecting to see each other again as my friend and I were heading South and he was going North. Two weeks later we were at the border to Thailand and bumped into each other, but again we went our separate ways heading off to Bangkok on separate coaches, not expecting to see each other again. However, half way through the journey James's coach broke down so our driver was called to pick the stranded passengers up. On the coach James and I talked and laughed the whole journey to Bangkok then said we'd hopefully bump into each other again. We didn't have mobile phone's and it was before social media so we just kept our fingers crossed that we would cross paths again again then went off to our separate guest houses. We didn't have long to wait though as my friend and I went to our hostel which turned out to be fully booked - and James did the same at his! We both ended up choosing other random hostels which of course turned out to be the same one. We were put in rooms next door to each other and decided at that point that something was definitely telling us we should spend some time together! We've been together ever since. Our Wedding day will be exactly 10 years to the day from the first night we met in Cambodia so it will be especially important to us. We have just bought a traditional English narrowboat that we live on in London so we have a large debt to pay off making it really tricky to afford a wedding too. I'm actually a photographer myself so the images of our day are really important to me and I would really appreciate having a great fine art photographer like Laura."
