Welcome Oyster & Pearl Design

It's always such a delight to share new wedding suppliers on b.loved! I know there's so many out there it can be so daunting knowing where to start! So when I recently discovered luxury stationery brand Oyster & Pearl Design I couldn't wait to tell you all about them - I'm sure you know I have a weakness for pretty stationery! Owner and designer Casey Blackmore is a lover of typography, creating modern designs in luxurious materials, simple elegant and timeless. She's also a self-confessed ribbon addict... a girl after my own heart!

Tell us about Oyster & Pearl Design Oyster & Pearl Design began officially in June this year, after creating the designs for my own wedding last May. Before then I had always been busy designing stationery for friends and friends of friends, which I loved. However, it was only after our wedding and the experience I gained, that I finally felt ready to take the leap and start up on my own. Wedding stationery has been a dream and a passion of mine for a long time, so it's really exciting for it to have finally become a reality. My background is in design, and after graduating from University I went to work for one of London's top design agencies. With 10 years' award-winning graphic design experience behind me, the knowledge I gained has been invaluable in creating Oyster & Pearl. Although my time in agencies has been fantastic, much of my work is for large corporate clients rather than individuals. This is the reason I love designing for weddings so much, it's far more personal. The opportunity to work closely with two people to create something really special and unique to them is wonderful. Describe your style I would describe my style as contemporary, elegant and typographic, with a passion for beautiful finishes and materials. Typography is my true love and the inspiration behind most of my work. I love typefaces and the opportunity they offer to create such different solutions. Ever since I can remember I have always been besotted with beautiful papers, and I am the very proud owner of an impressive collection of ribbon. Trend setter or trend follower? I wouldn't describe myself either as a trend setter or a trend follower really. My ambition is always just to create designs my clients will love. That's not to say I'm not constantly seeking new inspiration. I'm always on the look out for new materials and techniques to use in my work. How do you work with your couples? I think the best way to describe my process is personal. Whether my clients are looking for invitations alone or an entire suite of stationery, they will always get a completely personal service. I make sure my clients are involved at every stage of the process, from creating a 'look & feel' mood-board, right through to the design stage and finally selecting paper stocks and embellishments. I find that my clients are looking for someone who cannot only inspire them, but also someone they can trust. That means taking their ideas and translating them into a design that perfectly captures their personality and style.

What's your favourite wedding moment?

My favourite part of a wedding is the anticipation before the service begins. I love the feeling you get when you see the Bride for the first time, and the look on the Groom's face as he turns to see her. It can't fail to make me smile. I also love how no two weddings are ever the same. Each is such a unique reflection of that couple and always super special. What's your next challenge? At the moment for me the next challenge is just continuing to grow Oyster & Pearl. It's so new and exciting for me and there are still so many things I want to achieve. I also have a lot of exciting ideas for new ranges which I hope to launch very soon. It's just a case of finding the time between my bespoke commissions but I'm loving every minute. Want to see more?
