Sunday Ramble. Completing My Crochet Project & Learning a New Skill

via

This week I completed something really special to me.

Around 20 months ago I decided I wanted to learn to crochet, so I set about finding a pattern and purchased wool and a crochet hook. After much experimenting and many a brilliant you-tube tutorial I cracked this square pattern and got to it.

I was determined to complete this project and after quite probably 80+ hours of stitching it's now sitting in our baby's cot ready to keep him cosy and safe.

I used this fantastic pattern by Purl Bee, which as soon as I saw it I fell for it hook line and sinker. I would have liked to make the full size blanket, but at 60 squares I am happy with this in-between size.

I have really enjoyed learning a new skill. This blanket has helped me through some dark and sad times. It's been on adventures and helped me through anxiety. It's been on holiday, helped me to travel and get through my Agoraphobia issues. It's helped me to switch off, wind down and relax too. I am so grateful for this project and the joy it's brought me. I almost feel a little lost that I have no more squares to complete hehe!

Finishing a project like this gives so much satisfaction and I cannot wait to tuck up our little boy in it already. If you have been thinking about learning a new skill then do it. I never thought I'd be able to crochet, but there is so much help online with so many different you-tube tutorials that there really is no reason not to try and learn something new.

Now for the next project! Do any crocheters out there have any recomendations for fantastic patterns? I'd love to stitch a couple of wooly hats for the boys. I have enough wool to use hehe! XOXO Lou
