I've made my private ranking of untypical shelving we presented on Handimania. There were a few candidates for the winning post, but the one that inspired me the most was the Corner Door Shelf, which I made for our bedroom.

However, when talking about out of the ordinary shelves, you will be amazed by the ones I found on Instructables. If you like travelling, but you have no money, you can always use suitcases to make Suitcase Shelves ;) The idea is not only practical but it's also decorative. The creative use of old suitcases as a storage room can make you feel on the move all the time.
