Nothing makes us feel more feminine and fabulous than lipstick. From striking, matte red to glossy bubblegum pink, our lips help us express our moods and individuality. Because of its vital role in our lives, we pounce on any and every lipstick trick to help keep our color in tact. Take a look at these five key tips on how to keep lipstick right where it belongs: on your lips.

Tip #1. Clear or invisible lip liner (or any color for that matter). This handy little miracle worker serves as a liner and primer to fill in your lips and prevent bleeding. Lip liner in general works as an electric fence for your lips. The beauty of invisible liner is that it works for any lip color!

Tip #2. Moisturize. Feathering and bleeding is most likely to occur with dry lips. Keep your pout moist and hydrated by applying lip balm regularly as well as before you swipe on that lipstick.

Tip #3. Highlight the rim of your mouth. If you're not a fan of the lip liner, you can always go the highlighter route. Line the outer rim of your mouth with a nude or peach highlighting pencil. This will serve as a barrier for your lipstick and give your lips some shape.

Tip # 4. Long-wear lipstick. If this seems like a silly, no-brainer rule, that's because it is! There's a reason lipsticks are dubbed "long-wearing" or " long-lasting." It usually means they're formulated to withstand the test of time - or lunchtime, at the very least. The color will stay put and stay strong, just like we like it.

Tip #5. Blot. Again, this seems like the stuff of Makeup 101, but you'd be surprised how often this step is overlooked. Lipstick bleeds on your teeth as well as on the outside of your mouth, and blotting helps prevent this makeup catastrophe. Just pick up a piece of tissue, put it between your lips and press your lips together. Easy as pie!
