Lara & Chris's Rondekuil Wedding - Wedding Friends

A wedding like no other! A wedding can come in many shapes, sizes, themes and colors. Well, the wedding of Lara and Chris is definitely a little different than what you are used to. Lara went for a bold black and red theme and through out her wedding she kept the theme consistent and strong. The couple also had their wedding early in the day, had a lunch with their family and continues the reception at night. This way they could spend time with everyone at their wedding. With a very gentle rock 'n roll theme, yet romantic this couple put together a splendid affair. The photos were taken by Yeah Yeah Photography.

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
At a sokkie club! We both love dancing and although neither of us is Afrikaans we both
have friends who enjoy a bit of langarm. After standing around for a bit I asked Chris to
dance - I realized the interest was mutual when he added me on Facebook at 1am! After a
few months of getting to know one another, we finally went on a date and have never
looked back.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
We were out rock-climbing on a sunny winter day. At the top of one climb Chris took
forever to get the gear set up - he was actually transferring the ring into his pocket!
Packing up after my next climb, I found a brand new carabiner on my harness (early in
our relationship I'd joked that I was hard on jewellery, so if he had any intentions he
should consider climbing gear instead.
When I looked up to ask what it was, he had a ring in his hand and asked me to marry
him. He had hidden a basket in the car with my favourite snacks, & we celebrated with a
picnic by the dam before calling our families.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Chris: In giving a speech, Lara had secretly prepared a song, which she sang to me, while
accompanying herself with the guitar. The song in question, The Book of Love, was the
perfect crescendo to a speech which detailed just why we enjoy one another so much.
Lara: After our couple shoot we had some extra time before our entrance at the reception,
so we snuggled up in the car in the dark and watched the last few guests' headlights
flicker down the driveway towards the venue. It was a really lovely, intimate moment in
contrast to the excitement of the day.

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day
A day of great fun, perfectly accented by the people got to share it with.

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides
Don't be afraid to make your wedding fun. We had "secret agent" ring bearers who
entered to the Mission Impossible theme, childhood birthday cakes, and a comedy
performance by Chris's uncle... Everyone had a great time and it didn't detract from the
significance of the day.

Make time in the day to see your guests, especially if they come from far away. We
scheduled our day so that we could have a private lunch with family - it was awesome
and our guests didn't mind a break between the wedding & the reception.
And finally, give people a time limit for speeches. Ours were 5 minutes - no less
meaningful and everyone was grateful that they didn't have to sit still for hours!
