Julie Michaelsen Photography is all about heartfelt authenticity, her reportage style is about simple and genuine emotion. Having left a high flying job in finance to pursue her love of wedding photography full time, her enthusiasm and passion is infectious. Her Danish roots have influenced her style immensely, and as a result she produces clean and simple, modern and relaxed photography with a feminine feel.

Referring to herself as a people photographer, she draws inspiration from the meeting of eyes, knowing smiles, gasps of breath and delirious laughter. Capturing these connections between family and friends is what makes her photos a compelling and emotive documentation of love between people. Because when is all said and done, surely that is what matters, that is what lasts...

Julie is based in London but shoots weddings all over the UK, as well as internationally. She places a lot of emphasis on getting to know her couples, encouraging engagement shoots as a way of connecting with the bride and groom-to-be before the big day. Making her couples feel at ease in front of the camera is a real priority for her and means that on the wedding day her couples don't feel like she's a stranger with a camera but a friend and hidden story teller, capturing this monumental and intimate day as it unfolds, whilst still being subtle and unobtrusive.

What one of her couples said...'Our favourite photos were the ones Julie managed to get of us in the church. They capture us together in a way I've never seen us before: nervous, giggling, holding hands as we make this massive commitment to each other.
