Today's just hitched story is shared by the beloved Ian and Dominique, who recently got married at St Ford in the Free State. This couple has a lovely story to tell and we are so excited to share it with you today. The day was photographed by Lana H Photography, who captured the day in a phenomenal essence. We hope that you will be inspired!

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

Ian and I first met in 2009 at a braai hosted by a mutual friend, we were both living in Dubai at the time (although we didn't talk much during our first meeting!. The following weekend we met again when the same group of us went to a concert together. This time we actually talked to each other and a friendship bloomed!

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?

It had always been a dream of mine to see New York City. In January 2013, my dream became a reality when we were lucky enough to spend a few days exploring NYC. I had no idea that not only 1 but 2 dreams would come true that trip! On our last night in the city, Ian surprised me with a limousine that picked us up from our hotel. After driving around a few minutes, we got out at the massive Herchey's Chocolate store on Times Square, where the electronic Herchey's signboard outside the store read 'Dominique Donald, will you marry me?'... We then continued our limo ride and ended the night with a beautiful dinner.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Our entire day was truly unforgettable. We were completely overwhelmed by the sheer abundance of love and warmth that filled our whole wedding weekend. At the end of the night Ian and I sat talking about what had made the day so special for each of us, sharing the magical moments that had stood out for us. Those few minutes together allowed us to just take it all in and actually appreciate the day.

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day

Our wedding was a relaxed, beautifully happy, rustic inspired congregation of our nearest and dearest to celebrate love and have a big party!

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides.

Don't focus too much on the finer details! The only people who will know if things have not gone 100% the way you planned are you and your husband! But do take in every moment - the day flies by so quickly that you need to consciously step back every now and then to just absorb everything. Try not to miss a thing because it will be over before you know it!
