Dutch Fairytale Wedding | Fly Away Bride

We are sharing our first real wedding in the Netherlands today and it truly is a beauty. Nico and Fhayda's Dutch fairytale wedding was held at Chateau Marquette, a 12th century castle in the north west of the country. With their closest family, friends and of course, their sweet bulldog present, this celebration is happiness defined and with every moment captured so beautifully by Audra Wrisley, you just won't be able to look away.

From the bride;

"Nico and I met through a mutual friend. It was about a year before we actually started dating because I had a boyfriend at the time we met. That relationship eventually didn't work out, and very soon thereafter I started going out with Nico. It wasn't long before I moved in with him and we've been together ever since!

We got engaged in Italy. We had planned a weekend trip to Rome and during the trip, we visited the beautiful Borghesa park. While on a little boat and surrounded by a group of turtles (my favourite animals!) he dropped on his knee and told me how much he loved me, and asked me to marry him.

We got married in an amazing 12th century castle named Chateau Marquette, in the north western part of the Netherlands. It had always been my dream to get married outside in a beautiful yard with a gazebo, with the option to spend the whole day in and outside. We wanted to keep the wedding small and intimate and my husband has a very big family so we weren't able to invite everyone. We had to make really hard choices without trying to hurt anyone's feelings. We decided to only ask our friends and very closest family members, and fortunately most people were very understanding. My sister and mother in law officiated the ceremony at the Chateau, which made it really personal and our sweet bulldog served as our ring bearer! There was a hotel for all the guests connected to the Chateau, so everyone was able to stay and party as long and hard as they wanted! The whole day was spent at the castle so it was great that our guests didn't had to travel from venue to venue. It also worked out perfectly that the hotel was right next door and it allowed everyone to freshen up in their own room after dinner before the dance party started!

Our only regret was that we did not get the chance to go on a honeymoon immediately after the wedding. Unfortunately our budget went all to the wedding day itself and we just couldn't afford making a trip right after.

Most importantly, our advice to other couples is to try not let it get the better of you. You will be too busy the last couple weeks and don't want to get stressed out. Also, (and to me this applies particularly to those who are are paying for their own wedding) don't forget that it is your party, so do the things you want to do and ask the people you want to be at your special day. As for the day itself: just relax and let it happen and ENJOY!!
