Rome
Perfect For: The Historian

Rome is, without a doubt, iconic. The Pantheon, the Forum, the Vatican...it's a place where every major location starts with a capital letter and each destination is worth the effort. Sit on the Spanish Steps, marvel at the Sistine Chapel and soak up every inch of this city's ancient-meets-modern wonders. Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and the Borghese Galleries are also at the top of the list, but far and away the most appealing part of Rome is its layers upon layers of history. Case in point: the Colosseum. Just don't let the tourist-trap gladiators out front convince you to snap a photo with them - we promise, it's not worth the exorbitant price they'll try to charge you for their smiles.

Florence
Perfect For: The Art Buff

From its cobblestone streets to the pedestrian-friendly city center, Florence is nearly synonymous with early Renaissance art. Each church seems to hide incredible wonders, and the collection at the Uffizi Gallery is beyond impressive. However, once you've toured the Boboli Gardens and ooh-ed and ahh-ed over Botticelli's paintings, make sure you don't miss the single most sought out piece of art in the city - Michelangelo's David in the Accademia. His Prisoners, which line the hall leading up to the David, are similarly impressive if slightly less polished.

Cinque Terre
Perfect For: The Explorer

The Cinque Terre, or "Five Lands," are comprised of five picturesque villages tucked into a rugged section of the Italian Riviera. The towns include Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare and, except for Monterosso al Mare, are only easily accessible by train and on foot and the main attraction (aside from the locally-produced wine) is the network of hiking trails that connect the villages. The paths wind along cliffs and through hilly vineyards, offering incredible views of the coastline and each village along with an idyllic outlook on Italian life outside the cities.

Venice
Perfect For: The Romantic

Venice is a place pulled straight from a fairytale. The infamous waterways, the stunning architecture, the fact that getting lost in the maze of beautiful buildings and narrow canals is nothing less than a pleasure - it's all part of this vaguely mystical and almost too incredible to be real destination. Savor a candlelit, seafood-rich dinner for two, cross the Rialto Bridge and splurge on a gondola ride. Just don't forget to spend some time feeding the pigeons in Piazza San Marco. It's the ultimate tourist attraction, but it's fun despite the kitsch.

Capri
Perfect For: The Sun Worshipper

Known for its rugged seascapes and upscale beach resorts, this island in the Gulf of Naples is a honeymooning dream. Explore the unspoiled charm of Capri's two main town centers, Capri Town and Anacapri, where you can sip on the island's signature limoncello and purchase handmade leather goods for an Italian souvenir, or head to the beach and soak up the endless sun and bright blue waters. The Blue Grotto, a dark cavern with sunlit, electric blue waters, is one of the area's best-known sights and well worth a visit.
