Jaclyn and PJ grew up in the same small town in Newfoundland, but it would be decades before they actually connected. "I was into my second year of teaching in British Columbia and went to visit my Dad and brother in Fort McMurray, Alberta," Jaclyn explains. "PJ and I reconnected while attending the same get-together one night. For the remainder of that year, he would travel to British Columbia to see me and before the next school year, I moved to Fort McMurray to be with him. The rest, as they say, is history."

For their weddding day, the couple envisioned a sophisticated winter wedding with a colour palette of white, ivory, silver, and charcoal grey. "My reason for the theme and colors was that I had romance and love in mind since our wedding was after Valentine's Day," says Jaclyn. "I wanted it to be an elegant winter wedding without using the traditional snowflake or Valentine's Day themes," Jaclyn says. White linens and twinkle lights filled the celebration, as did unique personalized elements. "We entered our magical reception and noticed something out of this world: our very own ice sculpture!" Jaclyn exclaims. "Little did I know, my Mom and brother surprised us with one. It had two hearts intertwined, our names, and our wedding date on it. It was absolutely beautiful," she adds.

The flowers at the wedding were equally as extravagant. Jaclyn chose chic white roses because of what they meant to her. "Roses were a must-have in my bouquet since they represented a beautiful memory for me," says Jaclyn. "When PJ and I got engaged, he had beautiful miniature roses waiting for me in our hotel room."

When it came time for the couple to have their first dance, Jaclyn says it seemed as if everything and everyone else disappeared. "I was advised by so many of my close friends, who had already experienced their wedding day, to stop from time to time and take it all in - to live in the moment. And that's exactly what we both did," she remembers.
