Three contemporary living room ideas

Three contemporary living room ideas

In my past life as an interior designer, one of my favourite tasks was putting together a look and sourcing the perfect pieces to pull it all together. Nowadays I get my buzz from creating moodboards for editorial styled shoots, but sometimes I still miss working with interiors. Today I get to indulge some of that creativity by sharing three gorgeous ways to style your living room with calming neutrals of Scandi Chic, the bold brights of Colour Pop, or the elegant tones of Modern Contemporary I'm sure at least one of these looks will capture your own personal interior style!

This look is for the cool, calm & collected (or those who aspire to be - like me!). Neutral shades and pale natural timbers are classic Scandi style, this sideboard suits the aesthetic perfectly. I'm a sucker for a corner sofa (it's top of my home purchases list!) as they work perfectly in large or small spaces. This one has a high back, so it's super comfy as well as stylish, while a touch of black from these ikat cushions and dark base of this tripod lamp keeps things interesting.

1 LHF Classic Back Corner Sofa £995 / 2 Chrome Tripod Spotlight £199 / 3 Jasper Chair £395 4 Geometric Ikat Cushion £25 / 5 Large Oak Sideboard £1552

Colour-lovers will adore the bold brights and retro styling in this look. Let the colours pop against white walls and floor for real impact! This geometric chair and pop art piece so shouldn't work together, but the yellow shades repeated throughout each piece create a sense of harmony. I'm in love with this Ercol bench (everyone needs an Ercol classic in their life!) and the bold yellow brings it bang up to date.

1 Copenhagen Accent Chair £345 / 2 London Pop Art £99 / 3 Ombre Onion Green Vase £59 / 4 Grande Side Board £599 / 5 Ercol Originals Love Seat £616

This style seemingly never goes out of fashion - a mix of warm timbers, cool greys and luxe leather is a contemporary yet classic way to style your most lived-in room, just add a hint of colour with some modern artwork. A leather sofa bed is a stylish and practical solution for a small space, Natuzzi get it so right with the clean lines of their Arona sofa. A cosy rug adds interest and pattern and a contemporary light fitting keeps that modern feel.

1 Natuzzi Arona 2-Seater Sofa Bed £1195 / 2 Times Square Wall Art £299 / 3 Conran Elmari Coffee Table £279 / 4 Gaucho Pendant £65 / 5 Mirage Charcoal Rug £159

What's your favourite look?!
