Scottish Wedding at Chateau de Cheronne France

Welcome to another fabulous week and we are starting off with the Scottish Wedding of Elisabeth and Matthew at the beautiful Chateau de Cheronne, captured by Celine Chhuon Photography. Elisabeth is English, Matthew is Scottish and they met each other in Australia. When they decided to get married, they immediately thought of France as both had a soft spot for this country and Elisabeth's mother owns a house in France.

They chose Chateau Chéronne a beautiful castle nestled in the countryside near Le Mans, with an outdoor ceremony.

Bride Elisabeth takes us through their love story and big day: " Matt and I met in Perth Australia in 2005 when we were both travelling with friends - obviously we never thought that 9 years later we would be getting married at a Chateau in France, but it was just meant to be.

Matt is from Glasgow and when he got back to the UK in 2006 I flew up to see him, which appropriately was 26th January and Australia day! Matt made the move down to London 6 months later. On my 32nd birthday Matt took me away to Southwold in Suffolk where we stayed in a fantastic 15th Century hotel and visited a Spa and Vineyard, which is where Matt proposed. It was a real surprise, even though he was acting very strangely trying to find the 'perfect spot for our picnic'! We had an absolutely amazing time planning our big day and decided to have the ceremony in France because of how incredibly relaxed and laid back everyone we spoke to about our wedding was. We have been on holiday in France almost every year since 2006 because my mum has a house near Le Mans, so when I came across Chateau de Cheronne on a French wedding blog we had to go and have a look. It is an absolutely fairytale place and Madame Dumielle and her two sons were so welcoming and helpful, we knew we would have a wonderful day there. We were definitely smiled upon with regards the weather which couldn't have been better planned, it was very hot and sunny for our lovely outdoor ceremony, it then poured down when everyone was under the marquee having canapés and drinks, the sun then re-emerged for our lovely photo's, the rain made another appearance while we were in the marquee eating - but then it was dry again for the fireworks! We were very lucky! The part I will remember the most about the day was the ceremony - we held it out the front of the Chateau, I could look down from my room getting ready at all the guests arriving. The sun was shining, the celebrant was so thoughtful - and everyone sang their hearts out to The Monkey's 'I'm a believer'. We had wonderful professionals helping make our day great, a fantastic band that drove over from the UK to play in the evening for us, Le Rouge which catered delicious food for our 100 guests, Madame Dumielle who made us feel that her home was our home for the weekend, and the amazing Celine who captured all the magical moments from the day. All of our friends and family were in Tuffe for the whole weekend which made a wonderful party atmosphere and everyone got involved with decorating the marquee and hanging up bunting outside and setting up games.

We are so lucky to have had this amazing day and will treasure the memories."
