The Non-Boring Black Mani You Need for Fall

via

Here at MDC, we're always on the lookout for top-of-the-line beauty gurus to share advice on hair, makeup and nails. Today, we are thrilled to have celeb nail artist Kait Mosh show us how to get a black mani that's far from boring and perfect for fall! Take it away Kait!

When it comes to fall nails, deep hues like oxblood, plum and navy are common favorites, but nothing beats the utter coolness of a black mani. I decided to upgrade the classic, plain black nail look and added a little dimension and shape that will blow you away. Enjoy!

Supplies

Directions

Step 1: Start with clean, manicured hands, wiped free of oil and dirt (using acetone or alcohol). Paint on your base coat, followed by one to two thin coats of your favorite black nail polish. Paint on your quick-dry top coat and allow five minutes to dry.

Step 2: Cut your nail tape into small pieces and apply them to your nails, forming a cross (as pictured above).

Step 3: Fill in two diagonal squares with a thin layer of your matte top coat (DO NOT apply the matte top coat to your entire nail).

Step 4: After each hand is polished, slowly and carefully remove the nail tape. Allow seven to ten minutes for the matte top coat to dry, and you're good to go! (Tip: Moisturize your nails prior to starting this look. Oils and lotions can impact the matte effect if applied after the look is completed.)
