Catherine and David were engaged in Rome. While relaxing and talking in their hotel room, after a day spent at the spa, Dave popped the question. "He had been carrying the ring in his backpack for five days and couldn't wait a minute longer," Catherine shares.

The couple had a bilingual ceremony at the National Gallery of Canada. "I didn't think I would cry at our wedding but Peter Gabriel's cover of The Magnetic Fields' "The Book of Love" heightened every emotion I was feeling," Catherine recalls.

When the couple saw their venue for the first time, they knew they wanted to get married there. "It was a centrally located, bright and airy venue for both our ceremony and reception," Catherine says. "The tall windows made the outside come in and created a strong contrast to the romantic flowers and the wooden tables."

One of Catherine's favourite wedding details were the flowers. "I loved the vibrant accent blooms that complemented the bridesmaids' dresses perfectly," Catherine says.

The decor helped illuminate the couple's soft, nature-inspired theme. "The incandescent lights strung in the background during the ceremony beautifully represented the feel we wanted for our wedding," Catherine smiles.
