Modern & Simple Wedding Invitations

Need a simple and sophisticated wedding invitation that is perfectly streamlined? If so, this round-up is perfect for you! Focused mostly on interesting typography or classic design, you won't find a bunch of "extras" dominating these paper goods. So whether you have always been a minimalist or your spouse-to-be has requested that just one detail from your wedding not be covered in glitter and flowers, these invites are a light breath of fresh air.

Above, it doesn't get much more clean (and fabulous) than this elegant invite. The need-to-know details are front and center.

Although these invitations don't have a ton of color in them, it's fun to play around with muted grays and blues with an otherwise spartan design. Above, all of the text is broken up with 2 different fonts and lines separating each item. The blue and gray envelopes give it a pop of color while still allowing the text to take the starring role.

Below, it doesn't need to be block print to be minimalist. This gray and white invite features a two fonts (btw, that is the number that is most visually appealing-more than that and it can look disjointed), with the larger one being a soft script. The back of the invite is a really sweet (but subtle) polka dot design.

Go muted monochromatic by using chocolate and taupe as your font colors, which can be less austere than black and gray. The invite below features a chunk of text we like so much that we can even overlook the style choice of leaving out the punctuation.

Who doesn't love a typewriter font? Add a dash of aqua to this typewriter-style design (below) and you've got a winning combination!

Want just a dash of whimsy? Find an invite that still stays muted and simple but incorporates more playful fonts and color. We love the pink used to fill in the larger text below.

When you go minimalist, the details you do include are that much more important. Find a font (below, right) or added detail (such as the ribbon on the booklet below), that reflects your wedding's style with a subtle nod.

Another example of a "subtle nod" is this Kraft paper invite below. Designed with a rustic-gone-modern theme in mind, this invitation proves that you don't need a bunch of illustrations or icons to go with any theme.

If you're afraid that your invitation is too Plain Jane, enhance it with a patterned sleeve (below).

Or you can opt for a statement-making, utterly fantastic envelope liner. This is a terrific option for couples needing a compromise between two different style preferences.

Another technique that is gorgeous in a less-is-more sort of way is blind embossing. It's cool and unique and extremely chic.

Rather than an illustration or a lot of color, you can also choose a photo that you love from your engagement session and keep the rest of the text to a minimum.

Last but certainly not least, minimalist certainly isn't boring with this gold invitation suite. By using a simple invitation design and pairing it with glowing gold envelopes, it still stays simple, despite the metallic.
