The Hottest New Bridal Nail Trends

Should you wear colour on your nails for your wedding day? Play with nail art? These are just a few of the questions we asked Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen's global colour ambassador (pictured). "My best advice when it comes to bridal nails is to keep it simple," Poole shares. "Don't choose anything too colourful or overly complicated. Have your nails done the night before or morning of your wedding-the fresher and shinier the better!"

Read on for more of Poole's expert tips.

Q: What is your current favourite look for wedding nails?

A: "I like incorporating sheer tones with pale pinks, white, baby blue and butter yellow," Poole shares. "Rather than covering the nail with an opaque color I like sheer or clear colours. I use opaque pastels as accents. Pale shades I love for a wedding nail look are Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 'Stellar Style' and 'Gleam Supreme.'"

Q: What are the hottest new shades of polish for brides? Anything new and out of the ordinary to suggest?

A: "I like mint green, actually, but nothing too bold for a bridal look," Poole says. "Another unexpected option is a soft blue with a denim gray quality-the neutrality of this color is unusual but makes it easy to pair with any other accent colour."

Q: Is nail art still a trend for brides? If so, what do you recommend a bride consider when choosing a design or motif?

A: "I think nail art should be kept simple for brides, but it can be just the detail you need to incorporate a bit of colour or a graphic element into a classic bridal look. Consider using small decals or tiny bits of gold like a small circular stud at the base of the nail on a sheer, pale colour," Poole advises. "The more simple the concept of your nail art, the bigger visual impact it will have on your overall bridal style."
