Christopher Bailey pretty much always shows Burberry in Hyde Park, either on this side or that side, across from a monument or next to a landmark. Typically under a high-tech tent, typically with an incredible musical guest. Tradition is a Burberry thing. The twist on it is a Bailey thing.

The tradition for spring '16-in addition to the giant and immaculate tent, this time under the shadow of the Albert Memorial -includes the range you love: trenches, military references, ultra-English gowns and short, go-anywhere fit-and-flare dresses from sheer to knit.

The tweak to spring '16 is a sort of tough girl, noir-bling vibe. Monogrammed backpacks and platform slide sandals in black carried big gold accents, and moto jackets and streetwear elements (hello, navy sweatshirt cape! styled with lace!) colored in the rest of the heavy-metal scene.

Right in between the two (tradition and twist, that is), performing on the runway inside an orchestra pit, was bluesy songstress Alison Moyet. Like an underscore to the Bailey-at-Burberry balance, the music-loving creative director's choice this time around is a timeless siren and a strong, bold force. Her moving performance is available as a download on Burberry's newly launched Apple Music channel; may we recommend listening to it while you check out the runway looks she sang her heart out to?
