While Joe and Chelsey originally met in high school, it was until years late that the two actually became a couple. Joe eventually popped the question in the living room of the couple's first apartment. "He just couldn't wait, and it was such a surprise," Chelsey recalls.

The first time the couple visited Bird's Eye Cove they knew they wanted to get married there. "The views were breathtaking, and we loved the fresh, outdoor, casual feeling of it all," Chelsey shares. "I have spent a lot of time in Alberta, where my family is from, so I just clicked with the barn atmosphere."

Chelsey walked down the aisle as Joe's cousins, Andrea and Ben, played Ed Sheeran's "Kiss Me." "It was amazing," Chelsey smiles. "I was nervous, but as soon as I saw Joe I totally calmed down and was not nervous at all!"

The couple chose "Sweet Thing" by Van Morrison as their wedding song. "We both loved this song, and it came on the iPod at random the first time we said 'I love you,'" Chelsey explains.

The couple's reception was complete with all of their favourite foods, from a pig roast at dinner to wood-fired pizzas for the late-night snack. "Joe and I were the last two standing as we filled the last bus back to the hotel in Cowichan with 70 people who stayed until 1:00 a.m," Chelsey says. "We both had so much fun. Our theme was 'Best Day Ever'-and it really was."
