Sweet Destination Wedding in Paris

Sweet Destination Wedding in Paris

As Editor Monique is over in Paris today, what better way to celebrate than with a Sweet Destination Wedding in Paris captured by Nicola Milns Photography. Our beautiful bride for today Sofie talks us through their love story and wedding day: "It was January 1st, 2013 when I looked at David and asked him "If you could do anything this year what would you do?"

His answer was "go to Paris." That just so happened to be my answer as well. We booked our tickets for September of that year and when we arrived, not only were we in love with each other, but we were enchanted by the magic of the city. After David beautifully proposed marriage on the midnight-quiet street of Avenue Montaigne, our fate was sealed: we HAD to return to Paris to have our wedding. After seeing the work of Marie-Emelie of Mon Plus Beau Jour wedding planning, I knew she would be perfect as my planner. She made all of our dreams a reality! She knew exactly my vision and made the entire process so smooth. She is talented, organized, and meticulous. Without her, the day NEVER would have happened as beautifully as it did. What was meant to be an elopement initially, became an incredible week-long adventure with 25 of our friends and family. We had our ceremony at the stunning Chapelle Expiatiore. We then trotted around town and took photos and video near the Louvre, Jardin du Tuilleries, and at Pont Alexandre III. Our videographers were amazing at directing us and coming up with creative yet natural scenarios that allowed the essence of the day, and of Paris to be captured. My dress was beautiful applique lace and had a tulle skirt that I was able to wear over-top in order to have two looks, and was custom made. Shoes were Valentino that I preordered a year in advance! My husband looked dapper as ever in a tuxedo by Sandro (we love french brands) and Hugo Boss shoes. My stunning bouquet of peonies wrapped in soft green velvet ribbon was done by Atelier Milly Green. After freshening up a bit, we joined our guests for champagne at the centuries old and legendary La Tour d'Argent. We later moved upstairs to their private dining room and had an exquisite 4 course meal, which ended with a spectacular Croquembouche from Helmut Newcake (which Mon Plus Beau Jour worked hard to track down a bakery that would make one lactose-free). The day was one that my husband and I will never forget, and was made possible from the help of our amazing vendors. As well as the city and light and love: There will always be Paris! " Sweet Destination Wedding in Paris Snapshot It was a slightly daunting task, seeing as we live on the other side of the globe. Right away I looked on French Wedding Style Blog for some ' French style wedding inspiration' and was lucky to see that Nicola Milns Photography was offering a wedding photography competition, I immediately emailed them with my mood board and was over the moon when I received an email from Nicola to say that I was one of the winners of the competition!. I then booked the wedding videographers I have dreamed of hiring for years: Elle & Be Wedding Videographers from Toronto. Together they ended up creating a fairytale visual masterpiece of our wedding day that I will look back on for the rest of my life.
