When you think of winter makeup what comes to mind? For us, we see bold lips, flawless, matte skin and, our personal favorite, statement eyes. There's just something about this festive time of year that makes us break out the big guns - eye shadow - and go to town on our lids. It seems some of our favorite makeup artists would agree. We asked a few pros to spill their fave winter shadows and here's what they picked!

Urban Decay Spectrum Palette

For makeup guru Ashley Rebecca, the dreary, gray winter months are a perfect time to add pops of color wherever you can, especially the eyes. Which is why New York City-based pro is over-the-moon for the new Spectrum Palette (which is currently available at Sephora stores and will be available online in early 2016). With shades ranging from bright teal and royal purple to fuchsia and gold, this palette leaves no colored stone unturned!

NYX Rocker Chic Palette in California Dreaming

Nothing turns up the heat in the dead of winter quite like the smoky eye. "In the colder months, I love richer, deeper colors, a smoky eye, sultry purples and hints of gold," says Los Angeles-based makeup artist Rachel Halsey. "A smoky is good all year round!" This glam-rock palette has everything you need for a smoky eye with a little pizazz.

L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude

Nudes and neutrals may seem like a more toned-down option for winter, but L'Oréal Paris celebrity makeup artist Sir John says they're a staple! " A go-to eye shadow palette that I love is the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude," he says. "This palette has a great variety of shades to help sculpt and define eyes. There are key colors in the palette for everyone and you can create a different look every day of the week."

Just because he's a fan of nudes, doesn't mean Sir John doesn't have love for more vibrant shades this season. "I am also loving salmon colors on the eyes for winter," he explains. "These softer tones on the eyes and cheeks lend an 'outdoors, winter look' and add just a little pop of color." Jump on the salmon wagon by trying this Colour Riche palette, which includes a vibrant, coral pink that will definitely brighten up your winter days (and nights).

YSL Couture Palette Fall Collection

No winter makeup palette would be complete without a little glitz and glamour. "A classic look for the season would include some earth tones with a bronzed, metallic element, liner and dramatic mascara," says Halsey. Go for gold with this new palette from YSL, which features party-friendly shades like gold, bronze and deep maroon!
