"Marijus and I first met at a coffee shop, where we stayed and talked until the café had to close. We then continued our conversation for three more hours in a nearby park. Four years later, I'd like to think we still can't get enough of each other.

DECIDING ON THE DESTINATION

We got married in Adelboden, Switzerland. Marijus was scheduled to be in Switzerland this past summer doing research at the particle accelerator lab in CERN. His family is from Lithuania, so we figured it'd be easier for them to fly to Switzerland, as opposed to California. Thankfully, my family was willing- excited even- to attend a destination wedding. Marijus is an avid hiker (whereas I do it out of love for Marijus!). We thought it would be a dream come true to get married in the Swiss Alps, and our amazing wedding planner, Laura Dova, clued us in on the majesty of Adelboden. We saw the pictures and knew that's where we had to get married.

WEDDING STYLE

We opted for sweet, simple and rustic, letting the location do most of the talking. We did also manage to incorporate Physics into the wedding through our invitations and cake. Boheme Papeterie did an amazing job creating our invitations, and the Cambrian Hotel executed our request for a Physics inspired cake so wonderfully (and on relatively short notice of a couple of weeks before the wedding). Marijus would have preserved that cake, if he could! Of course, that didn't keep us from eating - and enjoying - it anyway.

BEST DECISION

Our best decision would be a tie between hiring our planner Laura Dova, and choosing the location. We have to remind ourselves we were actually fortunate enough to get married in Adelboden, because the pictures are so unbelievably beautiful they almost look like were taken in front of a green screen. To that end, we must give proper credit to our incredibly talented photographer, Lucia Moretti. The entire day was every superlative I can think of, and we get to relive it over and over again, thanks to her amazing photographs. And then Laura planned everything so well, I couldn't imagine having a more perfect and stress-free wedding day, even if it had taken place in our own backyard. A great wedding planner makes all the difference in the world!"
