When The Autumnal Outdoors Met The Glamour of Vintage - A Styled Shoot by Blue Wren Events

We have such a gorgeous autumnal styled shoot to share with you lovely people today.

Captured so beautifully by John Barwood Photography and featuring the work of wedding stylist Blue Wren Events, this shoot illustrates perfectly why autumn and winter weddings are on the rise in the UK. The light, the colours, the flowers - there is so much natural beauty, romance and warmth in these two seasons that its not surprising how well they can compliment a wedding. In this shoot, vintage glamour is married with the natural colours of the Autumnal outdoors and the result is gorgeous.

Look out for a beautiful hippy vintage wedding dress by Heartfelt Vintage. I. Want. It!

Jess of Blue Wren Events, John Barwood Photography and Kate of Heartfelt Vintage, talk us through the shoot.

Jess: Autumn is such a gorgeous time of year, so the idea of the shoot was to combine the natural, rustic beauty of the Autumnal outdoors with the soft and ethereal glamour of a vintage wedding. A rich burgundy colour palette coupled with antique rose pinks and calming blues was interwoven into elements throughout the shoot; from the oversize floral crowns to the cocktail station.

I found an ideal spot for the shoot; Townsend Farm in Herefordshire. At the time of the shoot, the grapes in the vineyard were just ready for picking and would act as a beautiful backdrop to our vintage bride and groom.

The awesome photographer John Barwood captured the most incredible natural Autumnal hues and tones; fallen leaves, richly coloured trees and the darkened sky. Everything that represents Autumn. The amazingly talented team at Heartfelt Vintage provided the beautiful vintage dresses, bridal styling and floral arrangements. My company, Blue Wren Barn, provided the beautiful vintage props and styling throughout the shoot. The self-serve cocktail drinks station with its rich burgundy and rose coloured cocktails really helped to make a memorable impression and provided an added bit of styled chic to the day. An autumnal take on cocktails such as an "Autumn Sangria" and the gin based "Pink Lady". Slices of hand picked Spartan red apples lined the brim of the kilner vintage cups and lovely gold metallic vintage inspired straws were added. A gorgeous chunky old French pine trestle table hosted the station adding some rustic character to the day. There's nothing more cosy than gathering around a fire and keeping all your guests warm for an Autumnal wedding. Woollen blankets created a gorgeous snuggly element especially with bridesmaids and their flower crowns! A light up rusty vintage heart on top of an old whiskey barrel in the background added some extra warmth to the scene.

John: Autumn is my favourite season, so I was thrilled when Jess from Blue Wren Barn approached me for this styled shoot. I loved the ideas and colours Jess was using and the location looked perfect for some beautiful portraits, I just love rolling vineyards!

I try to never alter my style, at least not consciously, to the setting or subject, and this was particularly important with the beautiful vintage dresses. I see lots of vintage weddings that get photographed in a vintage style. I really wanted to keep to my style which is clean and simple, and let the dresses do the talking.

Kate: Imogen Oakes, our beautiful model with short brown hair wore for look 1 a 1970s does 1920s lace dress with pearl detailing worn with a satin slip underneath. A very easy to wear dress that still has the wow factor despite having a relaxed feel to it. Styled with 1920s pearls and flower crown for a gorgeous boho look. Price £695

For look 2 Imogen wore a one-off design by Linda Thomas Eco Design, made entirely from up cycled silk with felted detailing using bamboo and hemp. Styled with a short wool cape with stand up collar also by Linda Thomas Eco Design. One off designer pieces inspired by vintage styles. Prices, dress £1700, cape £395 Katie, our stunning red head wore an original Edwardian cotton lace wedding dress with a satin slip underneath for look 1. This dress is unusual because there is a polka dot woven into the cotton, this was probably one of the first times polka dots had been seen in this way. Styled simply with a floral headpiece for a classic, boho look. Price £1200 For look 2 Katie wore a 1950s, tea-length, lace and tulle dress with matching bolero. The halterneck and nipped in waist is classic of the era. The tulle skirt is harder to find in the 1950s styles, a lot of 50s dresses are lace from top to toe making this dress more unusual. Price £950
