Taylor + Peter live in Brooklyn, New York, but decided a destination wedding in Austin, Texas would be a fun idea. They started their planning process by first reaching out to the talented design team at The Nouveau Romantics and the first box to check off the list was finding the right venue. They wanted a unique and sleek, yet relaxed natural space for their day and as soon as Kathryn of The Nouveau Romantics suggested Prospect House in Dripping Springs, Texas, it was clear the perfect location had been found.

Kathryn shares, Designed by award-winning Texas architect Mex Levy, the contemporary and minimalist venue is set against the backdrop of the tall grasses, live oak trees, and occasional tumbleweed of the Central Texas landscape. To hit the note between natural and undone while also remaining sophisticated and intentional, we used a soft, muted color palette of dusty rose, rich berry, cream, and sage. Their vows were exchanged at Prospect House's incredible raised ceremony site, an art installation in itself, with it's large, minimalist white structure perfectly framing the view of rolling Texas hills.

My parents were the most memorable part of our engagement year. They're largely responsible for the success of the night (and for the relative tranquility of our engagement). My parents and I did a lot of the wedding planning together - we tested soundtracks for ceremony music and songs for father-daughter dancing and structures for the ceremony itself, and we drank a lot of wine in the process.

The most memorable part of the day itself? The unexpected power of the ceremony. (Okay, well, some people in the back apparently couldn't hear that well, but it was perfect to me.)

Kathryn of The Nouveau Romantics says, To hit the note between natural and undone while also remaining sophisticated and intentional, we used a soft, muted color palette of dusty rose, rich berry, cream, and sage. The tables were set with loosely woven cheesecloth runners, taupe Heath Ceramics plates, and votives of flickering candlelight. We created a large greenery installation (suspended over the dance floor) from the indoor portion of a custom weather vane, allowing it to gently spin with larger gusts of wind.

Write your own vows. It might be the hardest part of the entire process, and it may make you dread your wedding day like it did for me. But-even taking those two fairly extreme things into account-it's worth it. You'll never regret the way you reflected on your partnership beforehand or the way you put that love into words.
