Fashion Week Dossier: The Cut Style Director, Rebecca Ramsey

Fashion Week Dossier: The Cut Style Director, Rebecca Ramsey

via

In preparation for the Fashion Weeks, we've been talking to some of our favorite writers, editors, photographers and fashion authorities about how they prepare for and survive the bustle of the streets, parties and runways.

Rebecca Ramsey is a petite fashion dynamo. The style director for New York Magazine's The Cut tackles her grueling Fashion Week schedule with pizzaz (gorgeous clothes), practicality (doses of Berocca and espresso) and playfulness (Snapchat sessions with friends).

If this is how the pros do it, we can't wait to put her tips to use.

Style Director Rebecca Ramsey with Shiona Turini What Item of clothing can you not wait to bust out in Paris?

My new Comme des Garçons black pleated trench coat. Swingy!

Send us a screen grab of your busiest day during Paris Fashion Week.

My busiest days can mean up to 7-8 shows with re-sees, accessories and jewelry appointments, and store openings every 30 minutes. I like to go to as much as possible so I feel like I'm grasping the sense of the season's moods the best I can.

What will you do to recover? Do you have a Fashion Week secret weapon?

Instead of hopping on a plane to head home, my husband is joining me in Paris once the shows wrap and we will enjoy a long weekend in France. His impending arrival will keep me motivated and energized, not to mention the helpful aid of Berocca and endless espresso. I'm also excited to test out Netflix abroad now that its apparently easier to stream overseas.

Shoes: Comfort or style? What shoes will you be wearing?

I like to think my footwear as stylishly comfortable. Mostly flats, with some low block heels. Go-to shoes are Saint Laurent Chelsea boots, red Gucci loafers and block-heel Céline lace-ups I bought a year ago. They are still my go-to.

Number one thing you won't forget to squeeze in while in Paris.

LUNCH! Paris has great food. The steak tartare at the Hotel Costes is probably my favorite between shows/appointments meal. That, and a really good cheeseburger.

Who's the one person you know you'll make time to see despite the insanity of Paris?

I always make sure to find time with Miguel Enamorado (Fashion Director at Interview magazine), Shiona Turini (the fabulous fashion editor and the first friend I made working in New York) and Julia Gall (also of Interview) for some "impromptu" runway walks to show our outfits on Shiona's Snapchat. It takes just a few minutes and is one way to remind ourselves to have fun and stay sane during the hectic schedule. Fortunately, a lot of my closest friends also work in fashion and we try to coordinate seasonal dinner plans while in Paris.

What's your favorite all-time souvenir from Paris?

A Loewe black midi skirt that is from Jonathan Anderson's first women's collection for the brand. It's made from linen segments that have been artfully pieced together. I snagged it (on sale) during Haute Couture Fashion Week last July.
