Neiman Marcus Blog | PRINTS CHARMING

You may not recognize this Dallas-based illustrator's face (impressive beard!) but you've likely seen his work: a crazy convergence of fashion, consumerism, and pop culture. "I draw my everyday life," he says. "But it's a life I've worked hard to create. It's one I love, filled with things that get me excited."

Witty, relevant, and yes - irreverent - Blake Wright's drawings have been commissioned by Neiman Marcus and other brands, including Opening Ceremony, Refinery29, and most recently, Moschino. His work (and recent tattoo of a Moschino tee) caught the eye of Creative Director Jeremy Scott on Instagram, kicking off their eventual collaboration. "This kind of opportunity doesn't come along very often," says Wright. "Luckily, I was more than ready for it."

Wright's prints first popped up on Moschino's Resort 2016 runway, taking the form of an avalanche of shopping bags. "I'm not afraid to admit I love everything about shopping," he says, "The logos, the displays, the tags, the bags..." For spring, Wright received a single word of creative direction: Construction. True to his nature, he took it and ran.

Like the majority of his works, the prints are hand-drawn in his at-home studio. (He's a Prismacolor loyalist.) They draw inspiration from the runway, retail, fashion branding, and logos. "It's something that Scott really gets, too," he says. "Moschino is all about the brand. I think that's why we click."
