Intimate Queenstown Lake Wedding - Polka Dot Bride

Georgia and James' intimate Queenstown lake wedding might just be the most beautiful way to marry. Your favourite people, plenty of champagne and that view - how could it be anything less than amazing? The couple chose a popular spot they had loved in wedding photos and decided to say their vows right there beside the lake. I am sure you will agree it was pure magic. Dawn Thomson Photography was there to capture it all.

Orange Blossom Designs created the most beautiful bouquet while Truly Scrumptious Cakes created a decadent wedding cake. Georgia notes, "Steph from Orange Blossom Designs, being that we were from Auckland, went out of her way to help us, from delivery on the day all the way from Glenorchy."

Nicola Dawson created Georgia's wedding gown. "I saw an amazing dress featured in a magazine from a designer and wedding in Christchurch. I found my dressmaker who has an endless supply of amazing hand made work and knew she was the one to make my dream dress, Nicola Dawson Designs."

"The most memorable moment for me (I know I won't ever forget), was when I was in the car on the way to the ceremony with my mum and bridesmaid Lauren. We drove along a windy gravel road and you go over a small hill before you can see the ceremony spot. As we came over the hill and I could see James and our family and friends. I got such a overwhelming feeling and that's when everything kind of finally hit me. I'd been extremely calm through the day and coming up to the day, but when I saw everyone there you get so emotional - it's special."

The couple chose Moke Lake, Queenstown for their wedding, explaining, "We saw this location used by many photographers for their after ceremony shoots, and we loved it so much we decided this was where we wanted to have our actual ceremony and all our photos. The light that hits in the afternoon is absolutely breath taking surrounded by mountains all around you on the lake front. There was even a little bit on snow left on the tips of the mountains - couldn't have found a better spot."

Monica Sharpe officiated the ceremony, of which the bride remembers, "I wanted it to be very intimate and romantic, quite casual. We are a close knit group of family and friends and that's exactly how it was."

Of their photographer, Georgia remarks, "She was amazing, she helped in every aspect, even before I had met her. She helped guide me and gave me suggestions on other vendors and answered so many questions for me. She went out of her way to scout the best locations for the ceremony and the photos."

Congratulations on your marriage Georgia and James! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Dawn Thomson Photography for sharing today's celebration!
