Shayla and Brendan wanted to host a destination wedding without travelling too far from home. "Brendan and I both spent time growing up in rural Manitoba and we love a good, laid back country wedding," Shayla explains. "We also like that destination weddings allow you extra time to spend with family and friends beyond the wedding day. Choosing Hecla for our venue was a perfect blend of a relaxed, out of town setting and the Lakeview Hecla Resort's many amenities had our loved ones excited to spend a few extra days celebrating with us."

To spite the laid back setting, Shayla says her ceremony entrance was quite dramatic. "I had to come up over a small hill before the wedding guests could see me," Shayla remembers. "It made the entrance to the ceremony feel very grand and beautiful."

Both Shayla and Brendan agree that the ceremony was the highlight of the day. "Hearing each other's vows was the best moment by far," says Shayla. "We both put a lot of heart into our vows and they spoke very truly to our relationship and how special we feel our love is."

Another high point of the day came during the reception when the groom's sister unveiled a surprise slideshow. "She had collected pictures of both of us from when we were children and then pictures of us together after we started dating," Shayla recalls. "The most special moment was when she included the video that Brendan captured of his proposal."

After the cake was cut and garter tossed, it was time to get the party started. "We danced the night away to country and old 90's music from our younger years," Shayla remembers.
