Rustic Festival Style Barn Wedding on A Farm | Festival Brides

via

Heather and Rob said I do on the 11th July 2015 at their local church, St Mary the Virgin Church in Beech Hill, Berkshire followed by a barn reception at Herons Farm in Pangbourne, Berkshire. They wanted a relaxed outdoors wedding where the food and drink flowed and their closest friends and family had time to relax, enjoy the surroundings and spend lots of time with each other. A pretty rustic festival style wedding on a secluded farm.

Using their own ideas as well as those seen at friends weddings and on pinterest, Heather and Rob used lots of handmade elements to create the decor for their wedding. Pretty much everything you see, from the table plan to the bunting, was made by either Rob or Heather. They even baked a huge variety of cakes (along with a little help from family and friends) for their very yummy looking cake table!

Look out for Heather's beautiful bouquet by Blue Orchid Events and Sam Reed's fantastic wedding photography.

Heather and Rob talk us through their wedding on a farm.....

My dress was Sincerity 3850 from Bride to Be in Reading. Lace, strapless, fit and flare design with a sweetheart neckline.

Rob wore a lance charcoal melange weave three-piece suit from Reiss. He decided to buy a special suit to wear again and again rather than hiring something uncomfortable and ill-fitting, and which wasn't in line with the theme/style of the wedding. We also bought the Best Man (Steve) his suit as a thank you for everything he did for us on the day.

Heather's sister, Rachel, wore Emily Bridalwear in Sheffield, Sorella Vita 8448 in Mulberry. Our flowergirls, Emily and Jessica, wore ivory dresses and our page-boy Josh wore a very smart grey three-piece suit (all highstreet).

Our reception was held at Herons Farm in Berkshire. We searched for local farm/barn venues and fell in love with it at first sight! We both have a love of the great outdoors and really liked how the venue was remote but still accessible for the guests. There i=was plenty of charming accommodation on-site (self-catering cottages, farmhouse and converted stables) for up to 30 people. The proprietors were very flexible and accommodating and happy for us to tailor the day exactly how we wanted it!

Rob and I want to say a massive thank you to Sam Reed for our AMAZING photos!! He perfectly captured all of our guests and some wonderful moments that we didn't get chance to see on the day (such as the flower girls running around on the lawn)! He made us feel really relaxed and comfortable, and we had so many lovely compliments from our friends and family on his friendly and professional approach.

We were also super impressed with his preparation and organisation - he clearly loves what he does, and he's brilliant at it! He was hands-down our number one wedding supplier and we will be recommending him to absolutely everyone we know!

We decorated the venue with various rustic bits hired from Izzy Pops Vintage Crockery Hire. We had: Jamjars/bottles for flowers, with lace and hessian on them; tea lights in holders/3 per table in the courtyard as well as the barn; Hay bales on grass area in front of farmhouse; Bunting for barn; Fun Photos/ Dress-up box and a Large card suitcase. We also dressed the cake table with a little bit of bunting and lace table cloth plus Herons barn log cake board. We also used other items bought from ebay and Amazon: Hessian table runners, log slice favours with the guest's names added, cake doilies and decorations, log slice photo holders, world map for table plan, garden games, activity packs for kids

We booked Sugar Rush for our wedding band, and we couldn't have been more delighted with them! From first contact with the band up to the big day itself, the whole process was easy and straightforward. On the night the band got all our guests up and dancing and created a fantastic atmosphere on our wedding day. We picked Sugar Rush for many reasons; their extensive set list, their great sound, Milly's outstanding vocals.... the list goes on! Thank you to Milly and the rest of the band, you made our big day even more special."

The speeches....and the band! Also, when we had an hour to ourselves (plus Sam, our photographer) watching the sun set in a beautiful corn field near the venue, just before the fun and excitement of the evening entertainment.

Early on in the process, each make a list of the five most important things you want from the day - and keep checking back to this. It's easy to get caught up in things and drift away from what you set out to achieve. Also, it is possible to achieve exactly the wedding you want on a smaller budget (as we did) but it takes a lot of time and effort - for example, we made big savings on our wedding cars, favours, flowers, stationery and cakes, but organising these took a lot of time.
