The Day Before a Destination Wedding: What to Do | Fly Away Bride

via

When you have a destination wedding, sometimes it's hard to shake the feeling that you need to take care of everybody all of the time. After all, they've travelled all this way for you right? So you feel like it's your job to make sure they are having a good time. Unfortunately this can add to the pressure of what can be already a stressful time. We spoke to Cat from Wild Connections, who shares what happened to her in the run up to her own destination wedding and the insight she gained from the events.

"On the night before our wedding I so desperately wanted to take care of the guests that had travelled thousands of miles to celebrate with us, that I organised a meet and greet at our apartment. I bought drinks and spent time cooking some food. But the relaxed evening with family and friends that I envisioned turned into an evening of playing hostess. I began to lose my nerve when it reached 9:30pm and nobody showed signs of leaving- I just wanted to clean up, have a bath and get a good night's sleep. It put me in a really stressful headspace the night before the wedding, when all I wanted to do was relax and start to enjoy the celebrations. On the day before your wedding it's time to put yourself first and let your guests take care of themselves! That day should be about getting the final preparations sorted, then switching off and celebrating the start of your wedding."

We asked Austrian destination wedding planner Kajsa Reisenbauer from Weddings by Kajsa about the biggest mistakes that destination brides make in the run up to their big day, and what advice she had for them. She created this list of tips on what to do the day before your destination wedding.

1. CHECK FINAL DETAILS

The venue has final numbers, your guests have all arrived safely and your maid of honour and best man have a copy of the running order and contact numbers for the wedding day. Apart from a few small details like preparing your vendor payments and making sure you have everything laid out ready, everything else should already have been taken care of.

2. SWITCH OFF
