Rustic Woodland & Village Fete Style Wedding Inspiration

Rustic Woodland & Village Fete Style Wedding Inspiration

Afternoon lovely people. I hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous sunshine we are having today. I am loving it!

Outdoor games have always been very popular at all types of weddings. I remember back in 2011 when my best friend got married that large garden games like connect four and giant Jenga were on the rage and are still used at a lot of weddings. In 2013 when I got married it was all welly wagging and space hopper racing! Now for 2016 it seems that fete and funfair style games are having their turn. In fact, the last 2 real weddings we featured on Festival Brides both had splat the rat and coconut shy's which is why today's styled shoot couldn't be more perfectly timed!

Put together by Dolly Dimples Weddings and featuring their new fete inspired games that are available for hire, the shoots aim was to inspire you with different themed styling ideas for three areas of your wedding; the desert table, the wedding reception tables and your outdoor entertainment. They explore a rustic woodland theme, a garden fete theme and an English country theme and provide some lovely ideas that you could use for your wedding.

Annabel from Dolly Dimples talks us through the entire shoot and each individual look.

At Dolly Dimples Weddings HQ we specialise in unique handmade props all available to hire as well as a venue styling service, waving our magic wands over venues. We set out to create a wedding styled photo shoot that would be eye candy to the reader, creating a vision of inspiration and unique flair that would enable the reader to flurry with ideas. We wanted to inspire happy couples with those finishing touches that go into bringing all the little details together, bringing in the wow factor. Focusing on venue styling and product detailing we collaborated with like-minded wedding suppliers to complete a vision of art, and to showcase our skills and passion for the industry in our own unique way.

We firstly created a rustic dining experience that infused a woodland feel with an edgy geometric and gem stone theme running through it. We were able to collaborate with suppliers to create the total vision, a chocolate supplier re-created the geometric colourful favours, the florist incorporated berry like colours with a new modern theme of fruit, featuring grapes and figs.

We also created a dessert display, where I was inspired by the secret garden, wanting to create a scene which looked as if it had naturally grown there. With marshmallows on twigs growing from the moss and a tree inspired cake sitting on a tree slice cake stand.

The second half of our shoot saw us photographing our games. We specialise in wedding garden games which have been all handmade so are unique to us, these are our most popular items with brides and grooms. We wanted to add a pop of colour that would inspire the happy couple and put a smile on their faces too.

Making a statement of your wedding cake by accompanying it with other dessert treats can be made a real focal point. Dessert stands are becoming another way to showcase the efforts of wedding planning. A dessert table is also a photo opportunity for the bride and groom when cutting their cake, so why not make it a show stopper. We wanted to make the dessert display look as if it had naturally grown there, marshmallows on twigs growing from the moss, tree slice cake stand featuring a yummy sponge cake in the influence of a tree with carved initials into it. The chest of drawers had flowers bellowing from the drawers giving the feel that Mother Nature had taken over and grown over the chest.

A wedding breakfast table is a place where your guests will dine and spend a lot of time, also tables can be quite imposing on a venue, and therefore the decor needs to be considered carefully. Tables are also a blank canvas to create a stunning look that themes your wedding. With this in mind we wanted to run with the ever popular rustic woodland theme which is loved by many but add in new influences that we are seeing come into trend. The dining table arrangement features on the workings of nature combined with man-made influences. Accompanying a China tea set, we added in animal detailing of a birds nest, feathers, deer ornament along with stationery which featured a pinned moth collection. Versus the industrial man made look of the hanging skeleton lamp shades and geometric gem stone chocolate favours. The floral central arrangement posed fruit of grapes and figs adding in a luxurious element with berry like colourings and highlights of ivories and peach flowers to bring light to the arrangement.
