Pantone Colour of the Year 2017: Greenery - Polka Dot Bride

via

Every year, the colour authority Pantone releases their colour of the year and every year it gives brand new ideas and fun colour combinations to play with. I have to say, this year's choice of "greenery" may just be one of my favourites!

I love greenery, especially when it comes to weddings, something about the natural tone becomes almost a neutral, and looks beautiful paired with almost any colour. Garlands of foliage and herbs en masse are some of my favourite ways to decorate a wedding. Today I'm sharing seven fun colour combinations with greenery - all embracing it in it's many shades.

Copper & Greenery

Metallics make greenery take on a touch of glam. So on trend is the shimmering shades of copper (beautifully combined with peach in the above photo), but I also adore the warmth of gold or modern feel of silver. Definitely fun for a wedding with a bit if sparkle!

Blush & Greenery

Beautiful blush is always a favourite and the beautiful feminine shade gives such a softness to greenery when combined. I love blush with greenery in Spring or warmer weather where it gives a look that is all about the warmth of the season.

Red & Greenery

For something superbly bold, why not consider red with greenery? Deep raspberry tones, beautiful marsala or bright cherry reds all work beautifully with greenery. The key to giving it more of a loose, organic look and take away the structure is to work with different blooms and different shades of the dominant colour. Think dahlias with roses and greenery of different textures.

Citrus & Greenery

Citrus is such a fresh pairing with greenery. I love the brightest of oranges for something bold or more mellow mango shades. This is one of those colour combinations that translates to all seasons - the fresh pops of colour together lending an unexpected, fun aspect.

White & Greenery

White with greenery has to be the most classic of combinations and is a beautiful way to add flowers to greenery without losing the beautiful natural vibe that greenery adds. I love beautiful, unusual shapes like dahlias and poppies - but classic shapes like roses give greenery a more traditional feel.

Taupe & Greenery

The earthy tone of taupe seems to suit greenery beautifully and plays back to an all neutral colour scheme. I love the simple, organic combination this brings to life - one that suits a beautiful modern occasion.

Black & Greenery

I love classic black with greenery. The soft, natural beauty of Mother Nature softens dramatic black, while allowing the black to remain a statement. I love this colour combination for black tie weddings or evening celebrations.
