The Ceremony

Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? Since I was a young girl, I envisioned a destination wedding. We wanted to choose a magical destination that really spoke to who we are as a couple. If one thing is certain, we both love food and pairing delicious meals with even more delectable wines. Who doesn't? Additionally, my father has collected wines since my childhood - and bestowed bottles, vineyard stories, and knowledge unto me along the way. We wanted to share all of that passion and love with our family and friends in an unforgettable location and setting.

Did you include any traditions in your ceremony? Yes. It was a modern-traditional Jewish wedding, including a chuppah and custom yarmulkes for our guests.

What was your ceremony music? We had our musicians play instrumental versions of the following:

Your ceremony in three words. Moving, traditional, loving.

What were your ceremony readings? In a traditional Jewish wedding, we do not have readings from family members. Our Rabbi officiated the ceremony and gave a beautiful speech about the two of us as a couple.

What were your vows like? Following the betrothal blessings, we exchanged rings. According to Jewish law, the rings must be solid metal, devoid of any cuts, stone, or ornamentation - just as it is hoped that the marriage will be one of simple beauty. The couple recites a "formula" called haray aht, which contains thirty-two letters. In Hebrew, the number thirty-two is written with the letters "lamed" and "vet", which spell the word that means "heart." The bride and groom thus give their heart to one another as they recite the words.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? I don't think I could choose.

The Reception

How would you describe your reception? We wanted an elegant outdoor reception.

Why did you choose this location for your reception? Meadowood was the only resort at the time of planning that was willing to work with us on a Kosher menu. It was meant to be! We could not have asked or hoped for a better experience or menu!

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding? Try to get through the guest list and seating assignments. Everything else is much easier to agree upon!

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Our planner Kelly, from A Savvy Event!

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? The dinner.

What type of cake or dessert did you serve? We had a traditional tiered wedding cake in addition to a fun dessert bar.

What was your first dance song? Father/daughter or mother/son dance? First Dance: Michael Bublé's Close Your Eyes // Father/daughter dance: Elton John's Tiny Dancer // Mother/son dance: Nat King Cole's Unforgettable.

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? We're happy to say, no!
