It’s funny how when we’re young we embrace the romantic vision of being married to our best friend as the best possible life scenario. But as I go through life and look around, I really don’t see many married couples still in love with their best friend. They get married, have kids, get a mortgage, both working, dealing with finances, different opinion about décor, vacations, what to eat and the marriage becomes routine. Then there’s marriage counseling, 7-year itch, and that thought of, “maybe I can do better… I want that spark again… I’m bored… “ The best part of marriage is the beauty found in the details. The random complements. The unexpected “go have fun with your friends tonight”. Emptying the dishwasher before she wakes up. Don’t wait for your spouse to step-up their game, do it yourself and be content with the reward of their smile.
