Light Me Up

It’s really funny how life works. Tania & Vince were married not even a month ago. Married by the priest of the Catholic church his mother has gone to for years. His name, Rev. Patrick O’Dwyer. I met him in the back of the church, seated waiting for the ceremony to start. I said hello and made small talk before he was up and down the isle ready to marry this couple. He did a great job during the hour+ service/ceremony and afterward quietly disappeared to his office. About 2 weeks later he was in his office waiting for an appointment when he received a phone call from nearby St. Jude church. He heard the unfortunate news that their priest had just died hours ago. He took it calmly and responded, “I too am ready whenever the Lord wants me”. He died about an hour later. He was 61. Today he will be laid to rest. A great man who served the Lord and helped several young couples begin their lives together as husband and wife. I only met you briefly, but I know you were a good man. In turn that gave me goosebumps. They then told me of the unfortunate passing of their priest. I dedicate this photo to the good Reverend.
