Chuppahs, or wedding canopies, are a gorgeous Jewish wedding tradition, and we love the creativity they allow when it comes to design. There are many different ways to construct and personalize a chuppah to fit the couple's wedding day style! Below are some of my favorites that I've been able to work on!

The wedding ceremony is one of the many times the bride and groom get to be at the center of attention on their special day. Thankfully, Jewish tradition ensures all eyes are on you with the spotlight of a chuppah.

Lauren and Marc's New Jersey backyard wedding is the stuff of polka-dotted red flower dreams. The outdoor ceremony was held at their home under a chuppah with the greenery backdrop making everything look dazzling as hell. Just wait until you see the bride's custom polka-dot gown, huge red flower bouquet with matching red flower fascinator.

This modern Jewish wedding is such a feast for the eyes. From Tash's incredible black and grey wedding gown, the stylish chuppah they married under, the incredible dancing, the sense of family and community that comes through every ritual of the day. Choosing St Kilda for their wedding festivities, photographer Joseph Koprek captured the day.

Syreeta and David's at The Peninsula is modern Chicago elegance. Kehoe Designs worked with a clean color palette of silver, black, and ivory to transform the Peninsula's ballroom for the ceremony, with a classic white uplit chuppah and lush florals elevated in black urns.

The romance and softness of Emily and David's Long Island City wedding belies the chaos of Manhattan just across the river, and we love the juxtaposition of both worlds in these images from Lindsay Madden! This pair may have originally wanted a small wedding, but their family-focused book-loving wedding ended up being just right. We are loving the pink dress, gorgeous ombre chuppah (that took nine months to make!), and super special mom/daughter walk down the aisle.

Starting out Gabrielle and Laura's wedding day at Emerald City Trapeze started it off with a bang with some high-flying photos. Their custom-made dresses, book paper flower bouquets, and luminous chuppah were a total highlight, The reception had an ice cream bar, traditional hora, and tons of string lights.

Driftwood is one of those elements you don't necessarily expect to see in wedding decorations, but when you do, it takes your breath away. Tory Williams and Brita Olsen Creative recently worked together to bring us this styled wedding shoot full of soft pink flowers, ivory tones, and yes, driftwood centerpieces complemented by a birchwood chuppah for the ceremony.

Once everyone was in position, and the music died down, the cantor started with a prayer, Bruchim Habayim* (literal translation: "blessed are those who come"), which is a prayer to welcome our guests, and to welcome Gander and I to our chuppah. Once the prayer was completed, the rabbi began, in English, with his words of welcome.

The pairing of Grey Collective Members Arte de Vie and Blue Gardenia Events produces absolute perfection in Joia and Louie's wedding at the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center. At once simple and visually impactful, the ceremony details included white, orchid-filled ceremony florals, chuppah and bouquet by Bee's Wedding & Event Design in the industrial light-filled space.

There is so much to love about this simple farm wedding. In the middle of such a rural (and seemingly traditional) setting, this couple's event is filled with delightfully non-traditional details. From the bride's fantastic flowered dress to the paper crane laden chuppah, this wedding has plenty of fun surprises.

I love the different cultures that come out to play when a wedding ceremony is conducted and one of my favourites is the history and tradition of a chuppah. Chuppahs of Melbourne is a company I recently stumbled across who have a beautifully modern take on this tradition, creating pieces that are as home on the beach as they are in a garden or hall.
