A Lavender Wedding

A Lavender Wedding

via

Good morning all! We have some news today- over the weekend we said bon voyage to Lindsay who is off on a round the world trip with a stop off in the US for my wedding next month. (Finding it a bit hard to get my head around the fact that I’m getting married next month!!) Even though I’ll miss her I can’t wait to hear stories of what she gets up to- the first destination on her route is Guatemala. Don’t worry though, she’ll be posting as usual and checking back in with us here. So on to the business at hand until our next update from the voyager! Today’s post was inspired by a wedding we featured last week which was held in a field of lavender in Provence. A reader comment brought my attention to the fact that it was a great way to make a sensory memory- every time the couple smell lavender they’ll remember their wedding. Isn’t that such a sweet thought? Olfactory memory is possibly the most vivid way to recall a moment in time- what a powerful way to be transported back to your wedding day! I loved the idea and the seed was planted for this inspiration board. Lavender is such an all-rounder of a plant and can be used in just so many places in a wedding, between the colour itself and the flower- both fresh and dried. Flavoured drinks and sweet stuff can be both pretty and tasty like the lavender martini below, and cake or cupcakes can be lavender infused. The flower itself makes a lovely garnish for drinks and cake decor, and the colour is so pretty and soft that it can be used as a main focus or paired with a stronger hue like a darker purple, yellow or another soft shade. I love it paired with a minty, slightly blue-green shade like our site colour. Even on its own lavender sets a truly romantic tone for any wedding!
