Boho Sea Siren Styled Shoot

Boho Sea Siren Styled Shoot

via

It’s been a little while since we featured some dreamy beach inspiration, and so I’m very happy to share today’s shoot submitted by Rebecca Douglas Photography.  Inspired by old tales of the sea, the creative team who put together this dreamy styled shoot created something so unique!  I’ve fallen in love with this whimsical take on a boho beach-inspired bride.  Her floaty white dress, natural makeup and soft beachy waves are accessorised with beach-gathered trinkets; shells and starfish are weaved into her hair, she adorns herself with long-lost jewels.  Her relaxed vibe is the perfect inspiration for a no-nonsense beach bride!  A beautiful beach setting requires nothing more than simple details, the lace teepee is the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding, but could easily be scaled for a larger wedding with a lace canopy, so dreamy!

Rebecca fills us in on the inspiration behind the shoot ~

We are all coast-lovers and love living by the sea and wanted to put together a shoot that told a story of the sea coupled with some beautiful ideas. We started with the idea of a modern day siren who was trying to lure fisherman and sailors to the rock with her beautiful songs and looks. We thought our siren would look sun kissed, natural and boho look and so the beach boho shoot was born.

In Greek Mythology there are only two stories of men resisting sirens and so we thought we’d create a new-fashioned third tale! Ami started at her beach camp, a dreamy lace teepee, wistfully looking out to sea, toasting marshmallows with a sweet scent to lure in the sailors. She then built on these attempts at the dinner table with more sweet treats for any would-be sailing suitor. Still no-one answered her call and she took to the rocks as the sun dipped down below the horizon. With the tide fast approaching she walked out at one last attempt to entice a man of the waves but it was to no avail and she returned alone, to her camp to warm up by the fire.

We decided to buy a dress as we knew we wanted to have the flexibility to go in the sea and not worry about the dress! Ami could not have been more perfect in her look, I grew up with this gorgeous girl and she is a goldsmith so all of the jewellery you see has been made by her – the snake necklace was made especially for the shoot! She’d just got back from Portugal and could not have been more sun kissed. Emma our florist made the nautical crown, I wanted a hunter–gatherer look and what she created was just gorgeous. Finally Jen styled the tousled hair and Gemma applied natural looking make up, a perfect combo for a boho siren. I sourced the furniture from a local second had treasure trove, and built the teepee with a humble set of canes and lace!
