Wedding planning - aahhhhhhhhhhhhh! That is a little dramatic, but when you are planning your wedding, it easily becomes the one topic of conversation that friends and family members ask you about. Whilst it is a joy to distill all of your upcoming wedding plans, there is that rare occasion when the question just elicits anxiety over planning your big day.

Now imagine planning your wedding from the other side of the world, when a number of vendors can only be booked when you arrive in France 3-4 weeks before the wedding. Me personally I would have spreadsheets, project plans and mood boards in overdrive to compensate! However that is just me, so it is time to catch up with Belle Bride Mademoiselle Slimalicious who has 27 weeks to go until her big day!

Cyndie: "I feel that I haven't progressed as much as I should, and that is worrying me a little. My anxiety increases every time someone asks me "how is the wedding planning going? All sorted?" I try reassuring myself with the facts that the most important vendors are booked and that we are very happy and confident with our choices.

• Venue - booked
• Catering (including wedding cake) - booked
• Photographer - booked
• Wedding shoes - bought (2x pairs, just in case!)
• Church ceremony application - submitted
• Save the date - sent
• Wedding gown - ordered online, not yet received (hopefully I'll like it and it will be a good fit)

In the last month I have been talking, well, emailing DJs. It is so hard to pick someone without talking to them, meeting them or having any type of direct interactions. A photographer has a portfolio you can look at, but a DJ is way harder to choose. Sadly, none of my friends and family was able to recommend someone local so it is very randomly that we are picking a DJ to animate our wedding. Prices vary quite significantly too. Is more expensive necessarily better?

On my TO DO list other items include: Town Hall legal ceremony application (we have to get a bunch of documents translated for Chris), ordering stationery (invitations, menus, and name cards), choosing and ordering guest favours. I also need to start working on some DIY wedding decoration and wedding games.

Chris is in charge of buying the wedding rings, his outfit and choosing the music.

We haven't booked our flights to France yet. This is because we can't decide on a return date. Do we want to go on a honey moon straight after the wedding? Would we be able to afford it?

We are taking time off-work (unpaid leave) in order to arrive in France 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding to finalise the details (order flowers, select the wine, find a makeup artist, do a hair trial, finalise the decoration, arrange a bridal car etc.). I am a little concerned that it will be August and most of France is on holiday at that time of the year!

It seems like there is a lot left to do and I'll be honest at times I feel a little powerless because of the distance and also because I am getting absolutely no help. Planning a destination wedding is challenging especially when you do it on your own, 16,000km away!

On the bright side, I am confident things will fall into place. There is no need to stress or to try to over complicate things. We were lucky to find a beautiful venue, food will be provided by the most renowned caterer in town and the photographer is also one of the top 3 in the area. Soon the DJ will be sorted, my dress will arrive and there will be only a few more items to tick off!"
