Nia Vardalos wrote a script for a "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" sequel and her co-stars and producers are already on board.

Vardalos' 2002 film about a first generation Greek-American woman who falls in love with a high school English teacher (John Corbett) made $241 million at the domestic box office. A total sleeper hit, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" became the highest-grossing romantic comedy in history, a title it still holds. Vardalos was also nominated for an Oscar for the film's screenplay, which was based on a one-woman play she wrote about her early life. CBS picked it up for a sitcom spin-off, "My Big Fat Greek Life," which lasted just one season.

Corbett and Vardalos are set to reprise their roles for the sequel, with Rita Wilson on the producing team again. No director is attached just yet.

Vardalos has been busy since the film's release and is currently on a book tour promoting her best-seller "Instant Mom." The sequel's plot will focus on a new wedding that brings her Greek family together again in a different chapter of their lives.

In a series of tweets, Vardalos confirmed the news: "Now that I'm experiencing motherhood, I'm ready to write the next chapter of my family story. A few jaded press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true."

Re: #MyBigFatGreekWedding2, thank you for the love, yes the entire big fat family is invited back for the sequel.
