Lauren & James: The Arrival Of The Spreadsheet.

Lauren & James: The Arrival Of The Spreadsheet.

Hi everyone! I can't quite believe it's post three already, the last four weeks have flown by and been super busy, although just like Summer - not much to do with the wedding, instead just general life etc.

So what have we done since the last post? Very little, actually. I feel that I should be more worried about how little we've done, but I'm just very relaxed about everything. I don't see there is any point in getting your knickers in a twist about things, otherwise where's the fun in planning?! However, being sensible (ish), I thought I'd use this post to update you on what little we have done, and ask advice and questions on what to do next.

Firstly, we had lunch and spent time in the spa at our gorgeous venue, Walton Hall, as mentioned in the last post, all in the name of research...obviously.

We both have very 'full on' jobs so to spend a day relaxing, reading the paper over lunch and then being pampered in the spa, particularly on a weekday, was a real treat. I will definitely be getting another massage on the day before the wedding! I also managed to get a few more cheeky pictures of the gorgeous interior, which I know I keep on raving about, but it really is fabulous, as you can hopefully see!

We have also...drum roll please...finally got a spreadsheet! There is not much on this spreadsheet, but still, there is an actual one with tables and filters on it and everything. We've delegated things like family addresses to both sets of parents (hi Mum and Jan!! *waves*), so we have started thinking about Save The Dates and how we are going to do invites.

My Chief Bridesmaid (hi Heather! *waves*) is getting married four weeks before we are, and has done some very simple but very gorgeous Save The Dates, and we're struggling to think of inspiration for ours. I find this a bit annoying, because it shouldn't be difficult, it's a Save The Date, it needs to be simple and not cost very much. So, if anyone has any good suggestions (that aren't overly cheesy!), I would be more than happy to hear them!

The good news is that we are clearer about how we would like to do the actual invites. My future mother-in-law (hi again, Jan!) has saved all the invites from weddings she has been to over the past few years so we could have a look at them for inspiration. Just FYI, these dated back to 2010. Yep, four years early. I know I've always been welcome, Jan, but FOUR YEARS?!

In all seriousness, we really appreciated the foresight, as these invites ranged from the very intricate and detailed to the very simple, and pretty much everything in between, so a great mix to get ideas from. However, just like Danielle, we have pretty much decided that we're going to do a website to follow up on our proper invites when they go out. Because we are having quite a large wedding, we think it will be easier if we could do RSVP's online, a link to book rooms for the evening of the wedding, as well as all the information everyone will need. We've had a look at a couple of websites, has anyone had any that they have found particularly good to navigate, use and set up pages for?

We've also started thinking about entertainment. DJ or band, or both? We've both been to some weddings over the past year or so which have had great bands, so we've decided to at least explore this option, particularly as we've been advised that most bands will DJ between and after their sets. The problem is, where do we start?!

The venue has provided us with their preferred supplier list however we would like to look outside this - what is the best way to look for a good quality band, and what is a reasonable cost to hire? I'm really open to advice on this one, the entertainment is really important to us, as our main aim for this wedding (apart from the getting married thing, and it being generally fabulous) is that everyone has a really good time!

So that's where we are! We have got something entertainment-wise lined up already, however want to keep some elements of our plans secret until the big day...so we're staying quiet for now. Hopefully next time I post we'll have everything I've discussed sorted!

Lauren xx
