Informal & Intimate Family Seaside Wedding

Informal & Intimate Family Seaside Wedding

via

Chris and Lorna married on the 2nd May 2014 beside the seaside in gorgeous Dorset, holding their reception at Branksome Dene Hall. They wanted their wedding to be informal and laid back, which also involved their four children.

They kept everything super simple and chic, with a sweet seaside feel to the décor and pretty fresh flowers.

Lorna had one of the loveliest hair styles ever, which was all plaits and flowers, which worked perfectly with her lace Romantica of Devon gown.

Thanks goes to Francesca Secolonovo for providing the stunning imagery today.

THE PROPOSAL | Chris and I met on a dating website at the beginning of August 2012, we spent three months getting to know each other before introducing our children to each other. Chris proposed to me in July 2013 a year after we met, he took me for a walk around the local park and got down on one knee on the bench where we first locked eyes.... of course I said yes.

THE VISION | We wanted a very informal day. We are both laid back people and did not think a formal day would be our cup of tea. We decided the ceremony should be more formal and then it would be nice to relax for the reception.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We had 9 months to plan our big day. We didn't stick to timetables of schedules and just went with the flow with the majority of things. I think that is why neither of us got stressed during the planning process, it definitely worked for us.

BUDGET | I think we ended up spending about £7,000

THE VENUE | The ceremony was a Poole Guildhall and the reception was at Branksome Dene Hall.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress came from Wedding Time in Dorchester and was by Romantica of Devon.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | We hired Chris' attire from Well Groomed in Parkstone, Poole.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had the most beautiful string quartet playing as I walked down the aisle and through the ceremony. We had playing Pablo Neruda's Sonnet XVII. It was beautiful.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My best friend Zoe Gill was my Maid of Honour, Danielle Stacey (Chris' eldest daughter) bridesmaid, Gabriella Stacey (Chris' other daughter) bridesmaid, Safia Young (my daughter) Flower Girl, Charlie Ahmed (my son) ring bearer.

THE FLOWERS | Flowers were bought from Signature Flowers, Lilliput, Poole.

THE CAKE | Honeysuckle Cakery, Poole.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Honestly having Francesca was like having another friend at our wedding. Francesca did an amazing job of capturing the day and all it's finer details. She was friendly and professional and a joy to work with.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We made all the decorations ourself and decorated the reception venue the night before with the Best Man and Maid of Honour. We had a relaxed, rustic seaside theme as we were right on the beach.

THE HONEYMOON | Still saving up for that!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Dancing with our 4 children. Playing on the beach. My Dad's and Chris' face when they saw me in my dress.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Try to enjoy the whole planning process, the more demands you make, the more chance you have of making your life more stressful. Try to savour every minute of the big day as it goes by far too quickly.

Don't aim for perfection and things will run much more smoothly.
