A Frida Kahlo Inspired Styled Shoot

A Frida Kahlo Inspired Styled Shoot

via

Afternoon Lovely People,

We have an absolutely awesome styled shoot to share with you all today, and when I say awesome, I mean AWESOME.

Sent all the way from Queensland, Australia, this Frida Kahlo Inspired shoot just oozes wedding cool. Shot at a Mexican Restaurant on Mermaid Beach on the beautiful Gold Coast, the shoot's aim was to offer something different to the wedding community whilst promoting an eco-friendly approach. Pretty much everything you see has either been recycled or is a recyclable product and all the suppliers involved promote an eco friendly ethos when it comes to supplying their services.

I have fallen in love with the bride's two piece Fabled and True wedding dress, with its subtle pastel embroidered flowers and lace skirt. The locations of the shoot is also pretty special - I just love all the artwork on the walls and of course the graffiti style paintings are very very cool.

Glass Slipper Photography, the curators of this stunning shoot, tells us all about it.

We wanted to do something different, ergo the Frida Kahlo theme. As we at Glass Slipper Photography are quite environmentally aware we chose to collaborate with only vendors who put an emphasis on keeping it green, recycled or recyclable products and eco friendly vibes.

We (Keshia and Steve) are foodies. We love all food, and generally will always try a new restaurant. When one of our amazing friends decided to open up a new Mexican Restaurant, called Bonita Bonita, on the Gold Coast we were the first through the door. We were taken a back by the incredible details and artwork that had gone into making such an extraordinary space, and being creative beings ourselves, the cogs started turning. We were also won over by the food. No detail has been missed!

Soon after, I approached Morgan (the incredible brains and beauty behind Bonita Bonita) and asked if she would allow us to use the space for a Styled Shoot - she said yes.

The next day we contacted a number of vendors, both Gold Coast and Brisbane based, with the idea to create a concept that was both edgy and different to the current bridal content. We were able to source out some pretty special vendors as Bonita Bonita, Fabled and True, Skeleton Leaf, Signs of Ware and The Borrowed Nursery like us, they too use up-cycled and sustainable products, so it was fantastic to create an edgy and steamy wedding shoot that was also environmentally conscious.

I think, that by using a well designed space, not necessarily a space specifically designed for weddings, you are truly able to create a unique wedding day. To create something different and share our ideas with the wedding community is an added bonus to the fact that we really just wanted to unleash our inner creativity and get a cool group of people together to hang out.
