Carol and Sean, from Dublin in Ireland, wanted to marry somewhere relaxed that suited their personalities. They found the perfect venue not too far away: Rathsallagh House in Co. Wicklow had just the vibe they were after. While we normally showcase destination weddings, we often like to bring readers home-grown celebrations too. After all, Ireland is hugely popular with both American and mainland European couples seeking somewhere different that's perfect for a destination wedding. DECIDING THE LOCATION

"Sean and I met eleven years ago at college. We got engaged nine years later on a trip to Vietnam: Sean popped the question on the balcony of our beach hut after carrying the ring on our travels for 10 days! For our wedding we wanted a venue where we could feel relaxed. We decided on Rathsallagh House in county Wicklow as it definitely had the laid back feeling we were looking for: I think because it's family run you feel more at home there and the team are just fantastic.

WEDDING FEEL

We didn't go with a specific theme but I suppose a lot of what we went for had a rustic feel to it (flowers, invites, place settings) which fit well with the feel of Rathsallagh. Music is really important to us both so we incorporated songs we loved played throughout every part of the day and used song quotes on our table names and in our guest book.

BEST DECISIONS

I think picking the right suppliers and trusting them to do what they do best was the best decision we made - this left us free to relax and just enjoy the day with the people we love. As regards a best part of the day for the two of us, we had a lovely moment under the tree at Rathsallagh which we felt Brideen and Deci captured perfectly."
