Date and location of wedding: Schwabenhof Banquets in Menomonee Falls, WI - September 13, 2014

Our offbeat wedding at a glance: Rob and I are huge geeks and one nerdy thing we really love is cosplay. We've been dressing up and heading to conventions since we started dating. So when we sat down to think of what theme we wanted for our wedding: a costume ball of fantasy, sci-fi, comic books, anime, etc.

Attire was one of the first things that came to our minds. Plus, having made the majority of our personal cosplays, I got to show off my sewing skills by making the groomsmen's, flower girl's, ringbearer's, and fairy godmother-in-law and fairy god-aunts' outfits. Rob and I are also artistic and wanted to use our skills to save some money on decorations, invitations, and favors. Rob, with his clay skills, created the centerpieces for the tables, and I drew the invitations, favors, and gifts for my bridesmaids.

Tell us about the ceremony:
The ceremony was really special to us. We wrote out our vows together and one of our best, closest friends got ordained online so she could perform the ceremony. It meant so much to have someone so close to us marry us. We had my cousin, Sara, read the children's bookLove Monster. It's really close to our hearts not only because Rob got it for me as a gift when I was feeling down once, but since Rob's art is primarily ceramic monsters, it fit perfectly.

At the end of the ceremony, going along with the theme of us dressing as characters from the Legend of Zelda, when we had our first kiss, I had the DJ play the "getting an item" sound effect from the game.

My funniest moment:
One of Rob's cousins, James, dressed as Michael Jackson, and when " Smooth Criminal" came on, he ran to the middle of the floor and showed off his moves and took over dancing. He'd been practicing for a year! Then, another one of Rob's cousins, Joey, (dressed as Krillin from Dragon Ball Z) ran out to the floor and showed off his ninja dance moves. They had the most epic dance-off for the entire song.

My favorite moment:
The first dance with Rob was awesome! We danced to"I See the Light" from Disney's Tangled. Our groomsman, Carlos, and his wife, Allie, taught us a Rumba routine. We practiced for weeks and when everything came together, even with a few mistakes, it was amazing.

And finally, the last dance of the night was to "Rainbow Connection." It's a very important song to Rob and to end our night, slow dancing to Kermit the Frog, was the perfect finale to our perfect day.
