Irish Bridal Designers | Fly Away Bride

We're finishing up "Irish Week" here on Fly Away Bride with five of our favourite Irish bridal designers. It's always great to be able to showcase home-grown talent and these six are a mix of internationally well-known brands as well as more local names. We particularly love designer Helen Cody's mantra that a gown should help brides to be the best version of themselves rather than changing their look on their wedding day.

We've worked with Patrick Casey on this shoot before and his designs are definitely a firm favourite of ours. Glamourous, decadent gowns in beautiful textural fabrics with a romantic, ethereal feel. Patrick's silk work is divine and his gowns tend to have a beautifully flattering cut. These dresses definitely suit the bride who wants something a little more "couture" than what you normally get in the bridal shops. For more check out our feature on Patrick Casey Bridal.

Named after the Greek goddess of heavenly light, the designer behind Theia Couture is Ireland's own Don O'Neill. Born in the west of Ireland, his designs seek to bring out every woman's inner goddess. We particularly love his rendering of water surfaces inspired by his home place in the textural materials used. For more see our feature on Theia's 2105 Collection.

Claire O'Connor aims to celebrate the female form with an "unapologetic commitment to glamour" in her designs. She pushes the boundaries of fashion, making her bridal pieces that little bit different: for the bride who is not afraid to try something new. We love the little nod to vintage that can seen here and there in her gowns.

Attention to detail and a love of embellishment are the obvious traits of Helen Cody's bridal collection. Working with a diverse range of fabrics is one of her favourite aspects of being in fashion design; with a mantra of less structure and more romance. According to Helen, it's so important that the personality of the dress fits the wearer. To be the best version of herself is what every bride should strive for, rather than changing their look completely for one day. Wise words we think!

Seeking to create the ultimate in elegance, Louise Kennedy has achieved international fame in her own right as a fashion designer. Swarovski crystal embellishments, pearl encrusted bodices, beaded sheer panels and delicately scalloped necklines gracing gowns of silk georgette are just some of the features found in her bridal collection. We love the understated elegance she manages to achieve.
