Baby clothes & nursery trends for boys & girls

I'm not a big fan of pastel shades of pink for girls and blue for boys. I'm a mummy of two little boys, Monroe aged four and our newbie, Lorne who is 9 weeks old today. I prefer to move away from the classic gender baby colours and instead love to dress my boys in vibrant stripes and monochrome geometric prints. With a rather severe Pinterest and Instagram habit, I spend a lot of time searching for new indie businesses that create ultra hip baby clothes and accessories.

Below are some of my favourite finds and some of my recent purchases (shh don't tell the husband!) of high quality, handmade baby clothes and accessories that are great gift ideas for new mums and your little ones.

I love the lightweight swaddle blankets and sweet little new born hats by House of Mia, made of 100% organic cotton in a choice of monochrome prints. We wrapped Lorne in the triangle print to bring him home and for his first photos.

A really great gift idea and a must have for mamas with more than one child to care for, is a baby wrap. After searching on Instagram, I found The Wrap by Solly Baby. They have fab on-trend colour options, helping you to feel chic while carrying your baby, with your hands free for multi- tasking. (If you want to read more about slings & baby wearing read this post by Jessie)

A pair of these gorgeous little shoes from Amy & Ivor have been on my 'must have' list since I found out I was pregnant with my second! Handmade in England from soft, high quality leather, these adorable moccasins are available in a fabulous choice of colours in UK sizes 0 - 9.

And finally to freshen up our nursery I wanted to add some new art work to the walls. I love Etsy for finding unique pieces and this print is a funky and simple addition to any little dudes room.
