Ben and Caroline's Relaxed and Rustic Festival Wedding

Afternoon Lovely Peeps,

I hope you all had a good weekend.

Today's real wedding is making me crave the summer big time! I can't wait for those lazy summer day's chilling with friends in the sun where cracking open your first beer at 11am is the norm and having two burgers, a sausage and a chicken thigh plus loads of potato salad is not frowned upon! Those summer days are always full of smiles and lots of fun and Caroline and Ben's wedding to me looks like the perfect summers day.

Caroline and Ben said I do at the beautiful Dry Doddington Church in Lincolnshire (famous for it's leaning spire) followed by a festival style wedding reception at their friends field. They wanted to have a relaxing day in a country setting where all their guests could enjoy the entertainment and have a good time. With live music throughout the day, handmade decor and a bespoke wedding dress designed by the bride herself, Caroline and Ben's wedding is full of great ideas you can steal for your wedding - oh and did I mention there was a bucking bronco!?

Caroline and Ben tells us all about it.....

For our decor, the bride's mother made bunting and another friend made the table clothes for the tables. The bride and a few helpers decorated jars for candles and the flowers. We had straw bales with blankets outside around a fire pit and by the dance floor. We had lots of lanterns outside around the outdoor furniture.

We designed our own food and our friend who is a chef did all the cooking with some help. We had a joint of roasted ham cooked in coke with homemade layer lattice pie filled with pistachio, apricot sausage meat, Caramelised onions and roasted butter nut squash. The meat and pie was served on a wooden platter with rocket and homemade chutney which the groom's parents made. Date and walnut bread was also served with olives and homemade sun blushed tomatoes by the bride.

For dessert we had an ice cream van with homemade ice cream from a local dairy farm

Later in the evening we had a hog roast.

It was so lovely to have all our friend and family in one place at one time celebrating with us.
